Praise be to God for this hymn. It is like a fountain flowing from a hard rock....This hymn has the power to draw the heater NEAR to GOD, just as we are! Charlotte will be praising God in heaven, everytime a soul turns and is drawn to the LORD while this hymn is sung! To God be all glory. In Jesus name. Amen!

Just as I am is the song that I walked down the isle and accepted Jesus as my personal Lord and Saviour and turned my life around. Praise the Lord for saving me.

Thank you for sharing your story. Many, many thousands have heard that song as they walked the aisle to give their life to Jesus. It's words resonate within us, that He receives us "just as we are", but thankfully doesn't leave us that way.

I can remember tearing up even as a little kid each time I heard this hymn sung, either while watching a Billy Graham crusade on TV or it being sung at our church. Very powerful hymn!

I answered the Holy Spirt's prompting in 1976 at a week long Revival at our church. I was 7 years old. I love Jesus with all my heart and soul. He's been with me and relentlessly pursued me through years of chronoc illness, doubt, backsliding, anger, and self-loathing. He is abounding in love, rich in mercy and grace. I can't wait to see my Savior face to face!!

You should do one on Praise ye the Lord the Almighty, the King of Creation. Very interesting story of how that came to be written.

Thanks for the suggestion. We will keep that one in mind when we consider expanding the library.

@@Worship101HymnStories In 1670 Joachim Neander went to a reformed Church near his home with two friends, his intention was to give a mocking critique of the new Pastor's sermon. But while there he came under deep conviction, began meeting with the Pastor, and gave his life to the Lord. He decided to become a Pastor and got a job teaching at a Latin school. The people there were very contentious, and he would go to a beautiful valley near the Dussel river. It was there he found the inspiration to write about 60 hymns including his most famous and my favorite hymn Praise ye the Lord The Almighty, the King of Creation. Thal means valley in German so it is the Neander valley. In the early 1850's A skeleton was found near there. After Darwin's book, they trotted the skeleton out again as evidence for evolution. I believe the Neanderthal man was a post-flood human, with a longer lifespan. If you look at the skull the eyebrow ridges are very prominent. Those bones grow your entire life. If you lived long enough you would end up looking like one too. I used to work in a VA, at about 90 you start to be able to see those bones thickening it is visible. The Neanderthal skeletons probably had rickets too. This is a vitamin D deficiency disease. It causes the bones to soften, which accounts for the odd-shaped skull. So the fossil is named after a hymn writer.

She may have just needed B12 or maybe had anemia. Too bad the Dr. didn't check her for deficiencies.
