Yes, they both come with batteries.

You are correct, there were batteries in the box, same with the power plug. Both items, plus the tape cartridge refills that I also showed are sold separately. The company sent me a big box full of everything. They added the batteries so I could demonstrate in the video. Sorry for any confusion!
