Fantastic playing. The phrasing, the dry sound, the impeccable time, everything. This is just some of my all time favorite alto playing. Hoping for new posts from this monster saxophonist :-) .

Thanks for your comment. I have owned a bunch of unlacquered saxes but these days I play on this silver-plated horn and an original lacquer tenor. Stripping the lacquer definitely makes the horn look "cool" and it gives the tone a certain dryness and punch, but at the end of the day it is the concept and the listening which makes the biggest difference. Thanks for listening!

Please, please, PLEASE upload more videos! You are a massive inspiration to me as a young intermediate alto player and I read and transcribe your videos all the time! I love your tone, your style, your ideas.

Great stuff. As a sax player who started later in life, analyzing your solo ideas is really helping me with my own improvisation, but I just love to simply listen to you play. Thank you for posting. I spent two years in Japan, but my Nihongo never got as good as your's. You're a talented guy. Take care!
