That's probably the intention of the movie. Average guy sitting with two incredibly beautiful and classy women. And, the fact his character bothers people so much means he as an actor and the director are doing things right. While they were pretending to be bickering, they were actually falling for each other and not even a young lass with all her beauty could prevent that. Does this happen in real life?
@eternalconfusion62263 жыл бұрын
For me it doesn't... It's that, first literature then Hollywood, trope that passion comes from fighting and then becomes love. Personally I roll my eyes so hard I can see my brain every time I hear the lead actress/actor saying "ohhh I just can't STAND this person"... And the script puts them in a situation where they are forced to spend time together and suddenly the fighting leads to passionate kissing in the rain and then it's like the ultimate love xD From my experience fighting leads to bitterness. Love, true love, comes from great chemistry right from the start, great flirting, common interests, lots and lots of laughing and shared experiences. If anything bickering kills love.
@MsMinoula2 жыл бұрын
Yeah anything can happen in real life.
@nessyness54472 жыл бұрын
@@eternalconfusion6226 yeah, i don'tt think you are getting the " haters to lovers" trope. Is not that they don't have all those good things you mentioned, is that at first, they are too caught up on a bad first impression, a rivalry over something else, or a misunderstanding, to actually see the other person and so when they are forced into a situation together, they actually start to know each other and realise they actually have a lot in common and have fun together, and that maybe they were wrong in some assumptions they made about the other. Is just a replay of pride and prejudice.
@eternalconfusion62262 жыл бұрын
@@nessyness5447 Of course there is a well orchestrated dramaturgy behind the trope.. otherwise it wouldn't work so well. I just described a bunch of generic overused scenes, whereas you did an analysis of said dramaturgy. Which is an okay analysis that definitely applies to some of the films. But we have so many different films and different decades where this trope is played differently etc yet the undeniable basis of it all is the romanticised idea that "opposites attract". Your interpretation is the healthiest scenario :) !!
@nessyness54472 жыл бұрын
@@eternalconfusion6226 is not romatanticise " opposites attract", ( which btw, can happen just fine)is as i already said, a replay of pride and prejudice ( which is one of the most known works on this trope). The point base is two people who clash first and decide they dislike each other because of whatever reason that keeps them from actually getting to know the other, just to later find out that they had no real reason for that hostility and thet actually are more alike than they originally thought. The idea is not that they are opposites, quite the contrary, is that they are actually very alike and compatible, but can't see it because of the conflict that keeps them from it or preconceived ideas.
