What are some of your favourite rituals when you bring home a new Tarot Deck? I LOVE hearing your answers :) Let me know below, thanks so much for watching my little Tarot Bumblebees!

This probably sounds silly but as soon as the postman drops it off, the deck gets opened and before I even look at the individual cards, it gets the "welcome shuffle". I thoroughly shuffle the deck -- like about 7 riffle shuffles with over and under shuffles in between, all the while I'm talking to it "in my head" mostly. "Welcome. We're so glad you could join us. I hope this is good place for you. Welcome, welcome, welcome" And I tell it where wee are in the world, that the cats live here and they we're a happy home. And that I'm sure it will have a good chance to settle in before it's called upon to "work". I tell it that the cats are good souls, my husband doesn't do tarot but he's respectful of it and that we'll get a chance to get to know each other later. It might be two weeks or 2 months or more before I get back to it. Too silly? I kind of think so but it's just sort of evolved this way.

My new decks spend a day in the light and then the night under my pillow. I then do an interview spread and journal the results, the next day. After the first read with it, I finish bonding by edging the cards. I love edging them in metallic colors that match the colors on the back of the cards. Finally, before tucking the deck in on my tarot shelf with the "family", I match a baggie and crystal to go in the bag.

Fantastic Krystal! Love that lil ritual so much :) thanks for sharing! How do you edge the cards at home?? Blessed 🐝
@CheriMichaels7343 жыл бұрын
Thanks,@@Ethony! I started with ink pads, but that fades and the gold edging looks almost tarnished as it ages. So, I've since switched to metallic paint markers. Better color and it lasts longer. It's kinda stinky though, LOL!

when I get new deck I like to do a sort of "pair reading". basically I do a reading with an older, more familiar deck and for each card I pull I grab the same card from my new deck to analyze it and get familiar with the symbolism. it's super simple and is a great way to start getting to know a new deck.

I just got my first deck and immediately started to look at the art work. I noticed the artist of the deck i got made several references to things in their artwork.

I welcome my new deck by introducing myself to it and saying that I will be its reader and interpreter. I have done this for many of my decks and the energy is beautiful. How I clense my deck is by waving it over a candle first for a few seconds then I sage them.
@JovianKronos3 жыл бұрын
I like to look at each card while also looking at the guidebook description for each card. Then I shuffle. I would leave it in the box and place it on my bedside table. I've even experimented with sleeping with it in my pillowcase.
@Ethony3 жыл бұрын
I agree, it really allows you to delve into each card and get an amazing feel for each different card and deck. Love all of this!

I will firstly do a reiki session for my new decks, including the box, guidebook, and the small bag to keep the deck if I am using one. Then I will carefully go through the cards one by one, looking at their details and feel them (I've had the experience of feeling so emotional towards some cards). Then I will close up the session and have a card interview with them, communicate with them. And I am ready to work with them.

HA! I have to admit.. in the past I have just torn in and zinged myself all over .. usually feeling completely drained afterwards. I Have recently heard of interviewing my deck.. first heard it from Katey Flowers and now from you as well. I am daunted by the idea of actually needing to go back through about 100 decks i think and interview each one! In the beginning I would go through and say hello to each card after reading the little guide book to see the creator's intent. Sometimes I wouldn't like to look at all of the cards because I loved the "surprise" of getting a new card. I've been pulling myself through some very dark years and I love that I am crawling out into the light again ... to these wisdoms I"m sure were advised in the beginnings but felt I couldn't wait to do. I feel I don't often get time with myself and the deck or feel I'm important enough to be able to choose them..that I skip the things I'd love to do in order to just make time to do them.. I feel that sometimes I still don't even get the "JOURNEY" the Fool is on.. or when people recommend I tell a "Story" that may or may not be true.. when I do that.. I find people sometimes look startled or weep that I am spot on. (my family for example) So many things to say lol so little time and space.. i feel like a comment hog.

I tend to procrastinate a bit on getting to a new deck, but I follow a process very much like yours. I like to analyze my decks and the books that come with them. I want to use the deck in the way the author/artist intended. So I like companion books that have a clear point of view or world they are exploring. It's more like a story then. :) After I've looked at the majors and minors and peruse the book, I will shuffle the cards three times to get a good mix, and then do an interview to see what they are about. Most straightforward RWS decks are then pretty easy to take on (I haven't done any cleansing yet, but just getting into crystals and stones at the moment (thanks for the 9 favs video on same). I do have to study some decks, like the Thoth (whole different system I have to jog memory on) and decks that depart a lot from the RWS symbolism. I do like variety, though. I am a Tarot bag person primarily, although some compact boxes I do use to keep decks in. I like the artistry of bags and their softness for some reason. :)

I welcome my decks in a somewhat similar fashion. I liked hearing about how you put the boxes of decks you’re using in a specific place, etc. I need to change the chaotic way that’s all happening in my space right now. Even Spare would wonder about the kind of chaos propagating in my reading space at moments! 😂♥️🙏
@Ethony3 жыл бұрын
Yesss, it's essential to store all of the boxes in a cupboard or closet, so they don't take over your house or apartment! I have too many decks to count so its easy for chaos to ensue.

I got my deck today. Immediately I opened it up and I started shuffling. I didn’t know what kind of shuffling I could do so I started watching your videos. I understand about the cleansing. And yes sometimes I think I am cursed! When you cleanse the deck and put it in the moon light, do you stack the deck or spread it? Nearly 59 yo baby witch. 😳

My brother just passed his deck down to me. They have old age but kind of new because he didn’t use them much. I was so excited that i jump right in a (few) reading. After about 7 read, i feel my head spinning and kind of headache. So i go search some thing. This video popped right up. Maybe i missed the cleaning and interviewing the card… do you have any suggestions for a beginner with an old deck? It’s Anne Stoke’s gothic deck btw

@nathalie12483 жыл бұрын
I’m actually cleaning as we speak the decks I’m planning on using in may and to do @lisapapez book I’m using antique anatomy, oracle of oddities, memento Lori, and and this might hurt, believe in your own magic. And moonlight oracle that I just got in yesterday. I put a piece of selenite on each and a bead charm I made from your course I put 5 crystal beads on pin and wrapped the edge to be safe. Abs then I keep the charm of beads in the bag with the deck afterward to keep clean while using it over the month.
