Actually, it wouldn't surprise me if it were to develop into a major hurricane just a few hours before it makes landfall. For some reason, over the last several years hurricanes have been rapidly intensifying as they near the US coast.

Thanks for updating us on this hurricane path. My wife visiting my USBP son and family stationed on Texas valley in Mc Allen Texas, luckily they’ll miss portions of Beryl path. Still waiting news. Prayers for all, my son and his team will work along Rio Grande border area make sure Everyone goes to safe shelters until further notice from government officials. No one ever said it would be a Cat 5 when it hit Mexico or Texas. It WAS a cat 5 before it hit Jamaica. But it was clear from the beginning that it would weaken to a Tropical Storm after passing the Yucatan. They have been correct all along the way. Not sure what you are complaining about.
