I love how it's a folk song that starts off with one guy playing kinda quietly playing guitar, but as the stories of Johnny get more and more exaggerated, more people join in and everything gets way louder and the chants of "He'll come, he'll come" get more frequent. Very neat way to break the established trope of Strive songs, rather than being in first person like every other character theme, this is an impersonal folk tale being told at a bar or something.

I see a lot of people interpreting it as saying that the god of failure hates Johnny because they are trying to make Johnny fail and can't, but I read it a little differently than that. Think of it this way: If you are loved by the god of fortune, that's usually seen as a good thing because they have the capacity to bless you with good fortune. Conversely, if you were loved by the god of failure, it stands to reason that you would be "blessed' with a multitude of failures. But not this guy. Johnny is HATED by the god of failure. And so the god of failure refuses to give Johnny even a single solitary L. Which, being real, is the most Johnny thing that I can think of.

Let's break it down: -He has a crew of all female pirates (except for him), some of which are underage and all also are infatuated with him; he does not reciprocate their feelings, feeling more like a dad to them. -Was able to hold off Bedman at the height of his power for a good few minutes, a feat very few can match. And he's even more powerful than this, as evidenced by an interaction with Slayer where he says Johnny is always holding back when he fights. -Is a proud supporter of Chipp, a fellow chad. -His character themes are always top-tier, and when given the opportunity to dive into his backstory/themes/deeper meaning with a vocal track, his is all about how awesome he is, and that's it. -Best drip in the series. He is just about the only character that didn't change coming to Strive, because they've already reached the peak.

My favourite theory about this song is that unlike other songs that's the characters singing about themselves this is a Folk Song by those who have been saved by Johnny and his crew. I love this idea because it makes the lyrics graciously praising him make it sound like a jolly group of people in the downtrodden areas singing about a hero that will come to save them in the grim times to come.
