My Grandmother is Native American and my Grandfather is European, they went through much of what Sam and Kate went through… I never understood it until seeing the scenes in this Movie… Love has no Colour ❤

To be fair European men have been marrying Native women since the 17th century, it's where "going native" comes from. While not exactly respected, they by and large were a common sight, especially on the frontier. Now obviously the native woman and the mixed child would receive hate and I'm sure your grandparents weren't exactly invited to the church social, but they, or at least relationships like theirs, typically wouldn't have elicited nearly as much issues as the relationship in the movie.

@@mergenocide unfortunately we live in western Canada, they did experience quite a lot of racism such as loss of job opportunities and harassment (rocks through windows in winter) etc, as much as the trope of frontiers seems romantic, there was always backlash against mixed race relationships. I honestly could go on about it but I’m sure many who’ve been witness to this know the extent of it.
