I use two ply toilet paper. Separate the layers and space your carrot seeds appropriately using a mixture of flour and water paste to attach them. I then plant as normal, just barley covering the paper with light sand or soil. I have done this for years and it has been a never fail method.

I'm 28 weeks and 3 days pregnant today and it's my birthday. I'm honestly fighting myself with the whole garden thing because I'm my families caregiver so when I have our son I doubt anything will be done unless I do it. I will have to do a c section too so I Just need prayers and to stop doubting myself.

Congratulations and happy birthday! I'd just like to encourage you to keep planting! 3 c-sections over here, and while it makes it harder to care for the garden it was also so good for me mentally after baby. My standards had to go way down but there is just something about being barefoot in the dirt and picking a few veggies/weeds that's just so refreshing after being inside with baby all day!

First thing, Happy Birthday🎈. As for the rest, I had that same life in the 80's, 3 c-sections, I had gardens, God is beside you. My best time in that time was sitting nursing my baby while reading a book to my 5 and 3 year old. Then we would enjoy the dirt and the plants and making our own stories about the garden💕

Saying goodbye after a long awaited visit is hard and I find myself always needing a week or so to get back in the rhythm of my life. Grant yourself the time for "grieving" for the loss of time with your loved ones while you do your chores. I am certain that once the sprouts start coming up or you have to transplant, you're going to get in your groove big time! Seeing the garden blossoming is inspiring.

I planted peas for the first time this year. I waited forever it seemed. Nothing came up. So finally I just took the soil from that raised bed and used it to plant other things in pots and in that planter. It was a new raised bed and I didn’t want to waste that new soil. Now I have peas coming up all over. In my flower pots, in my cauliflower, in my lettuce, lol Oh well, I’m mostly just letting them grow. That’s what I get for being impatient. 👩‍🌾☀️💛

I can tell he is really intune with how you were feeling here and it makes my heart feel so good to see it. The way you are feeling is definitely a normal I think. It's how I feel, I unfortunately like the instant gratification of seeing my hard work and gardening does not do that for me haha. My husband loves gardening and has the patients and appreciation for each step knowing that the hard work will pay off. We are in the U.P. and it's still so cold up here freezing or below freezing every night and I'm just so ready to get plants in the garden and even more ready to get fresh food in my house that we've grown! Watching your gardening videos gives me excitement for the upcoming month for us but also makes me feel even more behind. I wish our weather was nice like yours. Happy gardening you guys. ❤

You two are so good at team working - ‘team work makes the dream work’. It’ll be interesting to see whether planting by the phases of the moon makes any difference and if so what difference. I think we all need a gentle push to start doing stuff sometimes - maybe the odd year we’ve all had has played a part or maybe changing to the phasing of the moon may have had an impact. Whatever it is you’re doing it now and it won’t be long until you reap the fruits of your labour. When year seven comes OMG you’ll have earned your year off. WTG Rachel you’re doing an amazing job.

Zone 6b here... I too was feeling completely unmotivated and doubted if I should even start a garden this year. But if I didn't I knew I would regret it. Once I started sowing seeds I felt better. I did start everything later this year by at least a few weeks in anticipation that the cold weather drags on to the middle of May like it did last year. Last frost date is usually first of May. I have bulbing onion starts to get in the ground today and potatoes in the next day or two even though it's barely 50F outside. I also started a lot less veggie seeds this year, except for flowers, I am gonna have tons of flowers.

If your last frost is soon, wait and plant the tomatoes in the garden. The weather has been weird and we're all feeling off a bit. I have to restart my beets and some tomatoes as my starts went leggy, and then passed on when left out, my bad, thought it would be warm enough but nope. It's a process, think of it as therapy, not a chore. Glad you had a good time with your daughter, Todd did a great job minding the farm and we got to see turkey cuteness!

Thank you for sharing your thoughts and your feelings with us. I totally understand that it's harder to start on the project than it is to be finishing up it's completion of it. Also, we also have volunteers. This year we have rainbow chard, carrots, sunflowers, and as always, weeds and volunteer flowers. My Mom's in the same boat when it comes to motivation. I think it's because she's suddenly involved in various responsibilities just now, that perhaps she has felt overwhelmed. But perhaps, with enough time for a breather, she'll be right back at it! I also think sometime God might steer us in a different direction knowing that it's either a learning tool, like applying Faith, or perhaps knowing that if we were to take on the certain responsibility, that we would be too burnt out and overwhelmed to take care of our other responsibilities and take care of our selves. I've also noticed our Apricot tree a Sabbatical year off. Not that it hasn't before, but it's just interesting to note. 🤔🤷🏼‍♀️

I thought to myself, what if these seed don’t come up, and guess what, I see their little heads poking up and then I said”, what if they don’t produce any fruit”? Uggghhh. I think 2020 was so stressful for most of us and it has made me second guess a lot of things. So I prayed over my little garden and doing the best I know how for it and I must believe God will bless those plants for me. ❤️ oh and I laughed when Todd asked about dinner. It's hard coming home from having a good time on vacation and thinking about going back to work, even if it's work you enjoy. It always feels like an emotional let down. This spring has been a weird one as well - warm too early and making many of us think we are already behind when we are actually aren't. We could still have some cold one's yet before real spring happens :) I was feeling the panic of being behind and then tonight we're going to get snow and I had to bring in some of my winter sowing jugs and was happy that I hadn't gotten them planted yet. They say maybe another cold snap next week too, so..... happy to be forced to take a breather.

Just do it in your time. We are all growing in the learning experience every season. Always follow your intuition. And yes, I am behind with this season where I'd like to be. So glad to see y’all today! I’m going to start my container gardening, but I have to wait because the stormy weather is not good! Y’all are doing an excellent job!

I am like that too. I am also not feeling it yet though we are about a month behind you temperature wise. Also too, when I do something I have to be good at it. I get so full of doubt when things don't work out. I always feel like I've done it wrong... But I am trying to go with Roots and Refuge 's Jess says (I am paraphrasing) Just do it. Don't worry about it. Learn. Do it again. Be well from Canada. 🇨🇦

Yeah I definitely understand what you are feeling. I have a lot of volunteers too. I think I am going to leave some and move some so we will see.

I just last week jarred up about 30 half pints of Dandelion & Dandelion with orange zest Jelly from the blooms. The leaves I use for salads & stir fry. The roots I roast for tea & coffee . BTW - I ordered the Konblimc canning lids you showed in your video . I received the regular lids yesterday & the wide mouth will be here with the next couple of days . I dislike buying anything made in china, but in times like this - you have to do what you have to do . I haven't used them yet, but I am very impressed with how they look & feel ~ cannot see any difference between them & the Ball lids . So THANK YOU for taking the time to show them to us .

Dont worry Rachel, if you dont feel like planting at the moment, time passes and then you want to plant. I call those days "screw you days" not lazy days as others call them, wait till your motivation comes then nothing is gonna stop you.

hi rachel, I understand how you are feeling. but even if you are a perfect gardener, there is always a part you can't control. ultimately, it's God who gives the growth and the abundance. keeps us dependent😃🙋‍♀️

It's nice to get away for a break...I think you are having a bit of jet lag or something...seems like you don't have as much energy as you usually do! I hope you will feel better soon! 💖

My struggle today was cutting out the dead raspberry vines to make room for the new growth we have starting this year. My husband accidently killed off most of them last year with the weed wacker when he wasn't paying attention. It took most of the morning and I was scratched half a dozen times but only needed 3 band aides :) It looks pretty nice and should have a nice trellis full of vines for next year's harvest.
