A Nostalgic song about growing up in Brooklyn in the 50s and 60s. But people from anywhere in New York, New Jersey or any big city can relate to it.

I was born in Brooklyn, a block past the army base,,, we had some great times. I wouldn't give up anything. Brooklyn was the BEST as a child. The best era,The whole block was family, watching out for each other. The games we use to play in the streets.. were great....putting the johnny pump on when it got to hot ..lol...nothing will ever bring it back.. I thank God I grew up then,,,Thank you for all the great pictures and ur lovely song...((Hugs))

I admit I never lived in Brooklyn but I spent a lot of time with all my relatives that lived there, visiting and sleeping over as a kid, then as an adult I spent 20 years as a cop in Brooklyn.

I came from a small but friendly neighborhood in Brooklyn called Red Hook. These pictures bring tears to my eyes. Memories of a bygone era, never forgotten and when I get to New York, at least once a year, I drive down off the Bely Parkway through Bay Ridge to my home. Proud to be a woman from Brooklyn, remembering the old hang outs.. The friends we still have from that era in my life, still can talk to some others have passed. Betty Fitzpatrick

I grew up in Crown Heights in the 60's ..Sterling Place between Troy and Albany Av. What wonderful memories I have of growing up in Brooklyn, the neighbors, my brothers playing stick ball in the street. I remember one day a fire truck from a local fire house was returning from a call and they saw my brothers and friends playing stick ball in the street. They pulled the fire engine over and a few of the firemen got out and played stickball for a little while with the kids!!!

I moved to Brooklyn in the 1990s and believe me, I was not prepared to love it, but I remember it as the best place I ever lived. Bay Ridge was wonderful, the people in my building were quiet, clean and polite. It was such a great neighborhood that when family came to visit, all they wanted to do was walk around, enjoy the wide sidewalks and window-shop. We relaxed that way instead of dropping dead in front of a TV. I felt at home immediately and I miss it keenly. Even in the 1990's it was wonderful, and will live in my fondest memories all my life. The song, "Just Over the Brooklyn Bridge", on this trip down memory lane is just great. Thank you for posting this tribute to what life can be when people are kind and real. Loved it.

I'm not from Brooklyn, my family is, but I do recall some of this from visiting there. I'll have to rely on memory, for so much of it has changed. I'm sorry to say it's not what it used to be. It has changed, for the worst, and those golden days are gone forever. So many of the new residents have no concept or respect for what it once was. Thanks for the trip down memory lane.

@love4sweetz573 Thank you so much for commenting. That's what we were going for. It doesn't matter where you're from. This song brings back your own special memories of a much simpler time and place.
