I realize that I really need to overhaul my worldly aspirations and live (as you demonstrate and explain it) with the way it is. Since everything I want and desire too much outside of me always backfires in my face. Letting go of the wrong efforts, vain striving and the like. I hear you, and I appreciate what you mean. But really, it’s a lot more work to prop up the ego and its tendencies of resistance… the difference is we’ve become so familiar and identified with this, so it seems to be normal, or natural. But underneath is huge amount of energy being unconsciously leaked, and it’s all for lack of awareness and focus. It’s seems to be a part of our protective mechanism, as you say, but when you investigate that mechanism, in truth, you won’t find anything but concepts and constructs- all of which are ideas in the mind. I don’t mean for this to sound harsh or insensitive but when one investigates the reality of their experience- one discovers freedom from illusion. 🙏🏼
