Thank you for your comments. I should point out that this is a simplified version of the song. The tempo is slower than the original, the keyboard solo is gone, and the riff a little simplified and those who are playing are music students aged 16-18. We did this just for the fun of it, and we don't aspire to be the new GG.

The tempo was cool.Very intresting with female vocal on this piece. I can listen to this simplified version with the same appriciation as the original as you perform it flawless.

Mike Reiss Same over here in the UK. It's a real shame that most older (70's and earlier) bands are also unknown to this generation; people are listening to the 'latest thing' instead, which is usually thoughtless pop that's sole purpose is to make the composer rich. They can't see through it.. they're 'only humans', after all. One of the reasons I'm ashamed to be a part of this race..

Fantastic! I am so glad to see a music teacher showing students that there is more to playing music with guitars, drums, bass, and keyboards than just hitting a patch or pedal as a replacement to playing music. I've been a fan of Gentle Giant for a very long time and thank goodness there are teachers out there that recognize the musical quality of much of the prog rock movement and how much it can teach music students.
@moogyboy6
@moogyboy6 7 жыл бұрын
I shared this on my Facebook timeline along with this comment: "If you're a music lover [like me] and you see a video like this--teenage students playing vintage Gentle Giant, one of the more "difficult" of the '70s prog rock bands--you suddenly come away with 200% more hope for the future of the art and in the younger generation who will create it. This performance (slightly slower and sloppier than the original) is just incredible, simply for the fact that these kids even attempted it, much less actually did something visually hip with it." Continuing on...I've been a prog rock nut since I was younger than these fine young people, when I taught myself the keyboard by playing along to ELP, but even then I knew nothing of GG until I was much older. These youngsters are much better than I was at that age. My message to them is: You've got the right idea! Keep on pushing, keep on learning, and spread the word to your friends and colleagues, because this is what *real* music played by real musicians sounds like.

Bravo! Utterly unexpected and utterly charming. I can't think of a more meaningful tribute; this from a group of kids who grew up glued to electronic devices, bombarded with mindless shallow popular opinion insisting upon the merits of Drake's (or whoever it is this month)newest auto-tune machine-made hit single. Easy for us old folks to see the folly in that, but for young folks growing up now, who've never known anything else, it's a lot to overcome. I hope the Giants themselves see this. I imagine they'd be flattered. Bravo!

Way to go you guys!! I love it!! I'm so proud of you for even knowing who Gentle Giant is, but doing a revival... yikes... fantastic! It's a small world (but I still wouldn't want to paint it). I'm a Swedish American unit and was a complete and total Gianthead in high school, a long long time ago, before you were a sparkle in your parents' eyes. '70-'74. I saw them in concert 5 times after different album releases and each time at some point during the concert all five guys played keyboards, all five played bass, all five played guitar, all five played drums, and all five played the recorder. We had bootleg albums back when you really had to track them down and of course everything was vinyl. Maybe there is hope for future generations.

As an older, slightly misanthropic curmudgeon, from Southern California, and former "prog rock snob" It would be thrill me if I found some of our students had even heard of this song. At least once a week I am stunned by something I see or hear on You Tube. Again I am amazed that this collection of young people/musicians would tackle something like a Gentle Giant piece.
