Once you've pulled all the the plates off the first side just lift that end of the bar up vertically so the plates9n the other end fall into a pile, then lift the bar out.

Awesome advice. Have been using the small weight plate under the weight plates on deadlifts for a long time, but the sissy squat with a band around the rack column is a new one. 👍🏼

Deadlift jack? Get plates with slightly different diameter. Put the largest on first, then you can put the rest on without even moving the bar.
@msihcs8171

I have a pair of 55 pound bumper plates that go on first, then just use plain 45's etc for the rest (I'm not pulling 500+ pounds though so that might not be good, but I figure if you're there you probably have a deadlift jack.) Can confirm this is a good alternative.

The thing I like most about using bands on the J hooks for pull ups is that you can adjust the resistance by moving the hooks up and down which you can’t do if you put it over the bar at the top.

Pull-ups assisted by a band across the J-cups are great. The load can be progressed by lowering the band over time, so it gives less help. I progress through 2 or 3 strengths of bands in my warm-up for unassisted bodyweight chin-ups. It's like starting with just the bar and adding some weight for each warm up set.

Thanks for the tips! For sissy squats, I use an old safety squat strap from Spud Inc. in a similar way you used the mammoth band. Since I got an actual SSB bar, that strap has essentially become my sissy squat strap, lol

The deadlift Jack I found the best was that my dumper plates are a little bigger that the iron ones so always using one first means I never need the Jack
@quanle5265
@quanle5265 3 жыл бұрын
Should not mix bumper plates and iron plates, especially when the one bumper plate is larger and supporting all the weight. You will ruin the bumper plate that way.

#1 tip in my experience: don't buy bumpers, buy machined plates unless you weightlift
@GutsBatman
@GutsBatman 3 жыл бұрын
That and Strongman. I got a set of 45 and 25 pound bumpers last year, and planned to get more and realized that's all I needed. Log press is actually the reason I got the 25 pound bumpers entirely. The 45 lb bumpers are also coming in handy now that I recently got cambered bar. The Cambered Bar could be used in my rack, but I found I have to take the safety pins completely out to get to depth so it makes more sense to do a cambered bar squat in the open area in front of my rack. Keep adding regular iron 25 plates for increased weight, and the peace of mind that if I need to drop the weight on the floor I can.
@MajesticSkywhale
@MajesticSkywhale 3 жыл бұрын
@@GutsBatman my 25lb normal plates are the exact diameter of my log, and I drop it on tires anyway so im not too worried about it. with 2 pairs of 25s and all my changes plates + the 86lb bar, I could get to 231lbs on the log, so.....I'm set for a while
