I am from East Saint Louis were this group is from and I have loved this song since I was 16 now I am 48. This song reminds me of my first love Melvin Coleman in 1980., Kicking it in Washington Park and watching this group perform at a concert in Jones Park over 30 years ago. Remembering our favorite DJs Dr. Jockenstein, Jim Gates, Sweet Charlie and the rest of the gang from WESL who always played the jams by the Montclairs. Thank you Phil Perry and the Montclairs for all the memories.

You sure bring back memories. I used to live in St Louis and I used to perform in East St Louis at a club called parnell's. I remember jockenstein because I went to his funeral, I remember all the people you mentioned. I live in Tennessee now but I had spent my whole life in St Louis. This is the first time on KZbin that I have come across somebody that mentioned all those people that I knew and they mentioned St Louis and East St Louis. Do you remember the Regal room and the gong shows and there was a dude who used to sing and win almost every week his name was Irving Regal room Rush. I wonder what happened to him. Wow you bring back memories

Still gives me goosebumps listening to Phil Perry!! Well over 30 years ago.......after calling KJLH to find out who was singing this the first time I heard it in the weeeeee hours of the morning and he couldn't find it, to then jumping in the car and driving across town to the station, the DJ let us go through all the "records" scattered and stacked all over the floor until we found it..

When I found this song 2 days ago on this site, I played it over and over and cried everytime I listened to it. I never knew who sang this song. I just thought about it today because a friend of mine used to try to sing this when I first met him in St Louis, his name was Henry O'Neal. His brother is pretty famous now, his name is Julius Williams the man of a thousand voices. But Henry used to sing this and all I remember him singing was the first couple of lines, to make you feel happy today I sacrifice so much and give all I've got and then he would try to hit the high note. I put the title in and I found it here in KZbin now I'm going to download it and then I'll keep it on my phone and in my external hard drive. You can find anything on the internet now, everything has been digitized, every old song every old movie every book and magazine has been made into some type of digital form they are cataloging everything now
