Thanks for the review. That sounds like a great price. I live in Australia, where we pay higher duty. I paid AU$124 (US$83). That’s actually still a good price for our price levels. I have 2 bottles on the way, plus a friend is bringing back the 18yo from the UK.

What a steal for $50. I would have bought 3 and be set. In my area these are $78 before tax and are almost gone now. One more left in a local store. Speyburn presents itself real well. I agree. Thanks for detailed and honest review.

@@justwhisky In my area a lot of the 15 year speyburns are gone now. Whiskytube has helped with that methinks. That and crazy Scotch pricing for anything above the age of 12. I see the Speyburn 10 and Arranta as well. I wish they would carry the 18 year. By you is the Speyburn 18 year on the shelves?

$50! That's close to a theft under $5000 charge! What a deal, $3.33 a year. Outstanding. Awesome review as always John. Ive been very curious about this Speyburn 15 because of Roy's parises for it. The price here is a bit steeper at $115-160 CAD. Cheers 🥃

Bought this for $60 middle of February. I only had a single dip into the bottle before my dry month, but I suspect I'm going to enjoy it quite a bit. I'm hoping, in fact, that this could be my best value 15yr age stated scotch this year. I'm also definitely gravitating towards bourbon barrel dominant caskings.

I'm liking my bottle. I get a good amount of citrus, pepper, and light cherry vanilla notes. It's good not great. Nice review.

I've a bottle of the Speyburn 18 coming in the post, without having tried the younger bottlings. Reviews are thin on the ground, but from what I can gather it's a spirit that does well with the extra age. Fingers crossed!

I’ve been on the hunt for this. Finally had a buddy in CT pick one up for me, though it was closer to $70, alas. Don’t have it in hand yet, so I’m improvising with the 18 as I watch this. I’ve been a bit underwhelmed with the 18, but it is growing on me. Definitely that woody note on the finish. I’m actually a fan of the cheap 10 when I’m in the mood for a light dram or a “starter.” As Ralfy said years ago, “What Glenlivit should be.”

BTW, we get the 10 for $30 in NH. Arranta I’ve found a bit ‘meh.’ Haven’t tried the Companion Cask.

I’ve have the 10 at a local bar while watching Irish sessions. Simple and enjoyable but for ten dollars more a bottle I can get the 15.

I'm looking for this, it's a perfect one to tell a nosy clerk asking "can I help you find something?" Most shops have the 10 year old and that's a non starter at 43,%. Even at $35, I don't have the space for it. Otherwise I snidely ask them for something interesting and the response is usually laughable. I may be looking for Longrow Red but I'm kind of embarrassed to actually say those word out loud and besides I can spot that white label from a mile away. But this 15 year old seems like good jam. I was sipping on Ancnoc last night and I remembered how much I love the bourbon and the sherry vattings. C'mon man! What could be wrong with having a little bit of both worlds in your glass? It's hard to 90 pt bourbon matured bottles with so much sherry on the shelves. Even though it's the logical thing to aspire to but this is not a logical journey.

The Speyburn 10 is 40% in my area. I’ve tried it at a bar couple times…as it was the only scotch 🥹. One dimensional and watery as expected but pleasant non the less but I wouldn’t buy a bottle even on discount…as you say not enough room. Agree it’s challenging to find 100% ex bourbon but 80-90% seems predominate. I’m trying to understand the distillate without too much lipstick. Bruichladdich has been pulling me in that direction saying this is barley! Cheers 🥃

@@justwhisky what do you think of this??? I found a bottle of CS Westward for $99. So not cheap and aged in newly charred American Oak. Doesn't say new oak or decharr/recharr. I've had bottles American single malt in New oak that tastes like bourbon. Anxious to try a good Westward but would prefer a refill bourbon barrel with an age statement.

@@justwhisky My journey to Single malt was pretty broad with domestic rye and corn whiskey aling the way. 90 % of the bottles that I can't drink neat are American while the losers from Scotland improve in the bottle. I think it's natural for Americans to rebel from tradition, experiment and fuck things up until we get it good enough for the marketplace.
