I felt pretty sad when this happened. I'm glad you were able to get back to this so quickly. Props to Mr. Richards. I think he did an outstanding job. Also from what you said in a previous video, Mr. Richards kept true to his word. (Not like the other shop) I look forward to seeing it on in the field again.

Hay Pete I found that you said "tighten the nuts like a spiral" but I've rebuilt 2 heads one from a 1930's w-30 and another from a hart-par 18-28 and I was told to tighten the nuts starting in the center and work equil to the outside

I've never been any sort of a mechanic but can appreciate a 'master' at work and, probably, most farmers who do their own maintenance are exactly that. They may sometimes use unorthodox parts, but they keep the old timers running like tops. Thanks for this episode, Pete, and for sharing with us. I did miss the cows giving you guff, though 🙂

Glad you got that fine machine back in action Pete. I've been watching all your vids and sent my dad (84) your book. Ma said he just read it, didn't set it down except to eat! My grandpa bought the first tractor for the farm, a Farmall A brand new. My dad and my uncle (just kids) immediately jumped on and went down the road in 4th wide open to see how fast it would go. Grandpa gave them a little talking to! hah! I left the farm behind 40 years ago. But when returning home on vacation and visiting I would end up in a field, on a tractor or in a barn. Once farming is in you blood it doesn't easily come out. You and your family have a great operation going. Thanks for taking the time to bring us along for the ride!

Wow! I can't get enough of viewing the old MD. it is a fantastic work of art and mechanics. compilation. that you've done. your mechanical ability excels beyond mine for sure and I appreciate your tutorial offerings when you work on her. I"m pushing 80. so my opportunities to do the work again are slim so I can live vicariously through you and watching you work. And the other thing I love is reading al lthe other comments. and to see I am not the only one who appreciates your videos, your mechanicall ability, your video skills and best of all you! sir ! are one of a kind in my book. And a great kudos to Mr. Richards also. nice to know there are still honest people doing a good job out there nowadays. I get so disgusted how just about all business's today rip people off and over charge on parts and labor. but the flip side of the coin is that the people let them do it and do not boycott them or speak up. enough of my rant. thank you so much Pete for all that you do for us and for sharing God Speed. My dad believed we all should be able to maintain our own vehicles and me and my brothers bought cheapest and rebuild / restored them which in 1990 was a handy skill when our cars engine caught fire. My last rebuild I outsourced in 2004. I am disabled today and still service all our cars. I hope to restore one before I am 65 and that is approaching soon. I used to work for the IH and Cummins distributor in th 1980's athough on IT, but visited the plant occasionally. Love the mechanical and farming videos as we run a Urban Homestead here in South Africa.😇😇🤗🤗🙏🙏

I’m glad you got the MD back together and running so well. I really appreciate your mechanical videos. #1 because you really study the manuals so you know how things go together and all the tolerance specifications. #2 because your editing. You don’t show all the repetitive tasks, and keep your videos short and interesting to watch. I watch a couple of other channels that do tractor restorations, and they either tear into things not knowing what they are going to find, or they don’t edit the video down to a decent length showing a lot of dead air time or showing the complete procedure with a lot of repetitive tasks. Thanks again for putting out great content.

Glad you were able to save it! Fingers crossed no issues this time. Ive been a mechanic my whole life and I only have one suggestion. When using the torque wrench try not to put your hand on the head of the torque wrench. It actually changes the torque quite a bit. We had to go to a class about that for where I work. Very interesting
