I've really enjoyed watching your videos. I get goose bumps listening to the sound of the MD, from starting to shut off. My Dad bought a 1947 MD brand new, and I could hardly wait until I got old enough to drive it. Finally at 9 yrs of age and 2 yrs of bugging the heck out of the old man, he finally let me drive it. I had to wedge my butt against the seat to reach the clutch, but I didn't mind. I did a lot of chisel plowing, and loved listening to that diesel beller as I would work this Michigan blue clay. If all the tractors I've ever operated from my grandfather's 39 A to my cousin's Case IH Steiget, my absolute favorite was and forever shall be the MD. Thanks for taping and sharing your restoration journey. I really enjoyed it. I restored a 51 H, and 40 A kerosene, but haven't worked up the courage to tackle a Diesel. Probably at age 83, I never will. Again, thanks.

Mr. Pete, you farm the way I did when I was farming as a teenager/young adult. We had a Farmall "M", not the "MD" My neighbor had the "MD", and I spent a lot of time on it. When I started mowing hay, I used the cycle bar mower, except ours was tow behind. Then we graduated up from there. Back then, that's the kind of mower that the state and county used to mow the ditches. By the way, I'm 61 years old. Thank you so much for sharing this. I was watching you spread maneure the other day, and it brought back a lot of memories because that's exactly how I did it. We also at one time had a Farmall C, H, and a John Deere 630 with a wide front-end on it. Those were the days.

Heartbeat & blood pressure returns to normal. My breathing relaxes. I can almost smell that fresh cut field. I'm fascinated and completely relaxed at watching the farm action. I'm happy again as I laugh along with Pete. Like many, many other folks I'm forever grateful to you both for letting us into your world. You bring joy to so many. The old equipment, with a good dose of horse sense works so well. Good job on that restoration, Pete. That ol' girl sure does run smooth. It was always a very satisfying moment to listen to the purr as you wiped the grime off the tools before putting them away.

In the early '70's the local farmer that I worked for had a belly mower mounted on an IH806 w/ tricycle front. It made monitoring the cycle bar much easier. A downside was that it was possible to drop a rear wheel into a low enough depression to sit the tractor weight onto the mower frame.

Pete, every time you do these type of videos, it just springs up memories of growing up at the farm in Clinton County,NY. The Dairy Farm is no longer there as the barn burned down without livestock or equipment many decades ago, but it does not take away what I saw, and how it felt to work in the fields cutting, raking, baling, and filling the mow each summer. Thanks for the video and the Channel. Take Care
@jeanhutchinson61982 жыл бұрын
I grew up on a farm too, in Genesee County, and I kind of feel sorry for people that didn't. Our barn burned too, and that part of the story I wish had never happened. A neighbor kid was an arsonist and didn't get caught until he had burned several barns in the area. That was back in '66. Dad lost some equipment but luckily the tractor (we only had one) was in another building that night. Losing that barn really hurt the farm.
