Hi there, I just recently got into X Japan.-- I did know Yoshiki from his compilation with Roger Taylor, Queen's drummer and immediately fell for his looks, his style of playing the drums and piano. - -Now: I am a Freddie and Queen girl, but there is something very special about YOSHIKI. He has the same qualities, that attracted me to Freddie. They both worked until they couldn't work any more. Freddie passed, Yoshiki had 2 difficult neck surgeries, that's why he used to collapse after a drum session on several occasions. - I dedicated my small channel to Queen, but also listen to Yoshiki's Classical versions of their songs. ❣❣ Thank you for your great reaction. ☮ Sending Love, Peace and Joy across the pond

You really need to see the documentary "We Are X". A fantastic journey through the pretty dark X history.

"LEGENDADO" means "SUBTITLED" in Portuguese. The text that appears at the bottom of the video is the translation of the song into Brazilian Portuguese. Yoshiki was coming from a long drum solo at the beginning of this song, so he looked tired. The emotion of this moment really is because of the band's breakup.

They moment when they embrace is powerful. Real tearjerker of a bro moment Toshi and yoshiki had been friends since they were like 5 years old ..... And during this concert yoshiki was apparently pretty pissed at Toshi because thanksv to toshis cultist wife Toshi was basically breaking up the band. Of course if I'm not mistaken the next time they performed this song together it was at Hides funeral

Thanks for checking out more X-Japan. Their ballads were written by YOSHIKI, their drummer/pianist and main songwriter/composer. X-Japan's popularity is in big part due to the wide appeal of their ballads with the mainstream Japanese audience. And a big reason why YOSHIKI was able to write such emotional and haunting ballads was due to his childhood trauma. He lost his Dad to suicide when he was young, and a lot of the melancholy and emotionality of the songs stems from this. The song "Tears" is the most direct message from him to his father, and is well worth checking out. Hope you can get into some of their higher energy songs as well. "Rusty Nail" and "Weekend" from their Last Live are two of my favorites. In "Weekend" you can see YOSHIKI display his versatility by jumping back and forth from the drums and piano. Cheers

I think they use tracks mainly for Yoshiki's drums when he is on piano, but I have seen clips with a sit in at the kit. Yoshiki was probably so emotional as he thought he was losing Toshi possibly forever who he had been friends with since they were four. They got back together later after Toshi got away from the cult his wife got him into, but they basically had not spoken in 10 years. I think there were several sit in guitarists for awhile once they got back together but now pretty much use Sugizo from Luna Sea as a permanent member who was a friend of Hide's. They have done little as far as new material since reforming they were supposed to be working on an album. The two songs that jump to mind are Jade and I.V. from the Saw I.V. movie. There is a good version of Kurenai with Yoshiki and Sugizo doing the intro on piano and violin, they are both classically trained concert level musicians and as well known to some people for their classical performances as the rock ones.

Documentary film "We Are X"(directed by Stephen Kijak) have detailed introduction to their story, especially the leader Yoshiki, in fact to be his personal legend. As Toshi said many songs are based on his own personal experience. The song "Art of Life" is written about his life. we are X🙅‍♂️

It happened to me that since I started to scratch around japanese metal since two years ago or so, I have heard about how popular X-Japan were. And I never heard of them, I had heard about Loudness or Anthem a couple of decades ago, but first notice about X-Japan. You should also check Kurenai from them, Akatsuki in Babymetal is a direct echo to that song (both No Rain No Rainbow and Akatsuki are X-Japan inspired). I don't know why they are so emotional, maybe it was a song written by Hyde or something like that. And the subtitles are in portuguese, I guess _legendado_ means subtitled.

as you can see and hear, x japan are very capable of making great ballads. as for hide, japanese wise its pronounced "He deh". theres an actual and well known musician/artist that goes by "hide" english pronunciation but is spelt Hyde. at the time it is was indeed to be their final performance as a band. the reasoning was truly unfortunate. initally toshi felt unsatified with the current rock star life and wanted something simpler, leaving the group which prompted the disbanding and "the last live". it was after the reformation of the band around 2007 that media rumors of toshi being brainwashed into a cult (the anti rock sort of deal to say the least) was confirmed and thus being the main reason with leaving the group back in 1997. also unfortunately hide died the following year from what seemed like suicide. i believe recent findings have revealed that it was likely an accident. anyways, to continue the x japan train, i recommend two songs that influenced babymetal's akastuki . 1. silent jealousy kzbin.info/www/bejne/b4WogqqPg9B_bZo (with subs because their lyrics are also intricate) 2. kurenai kzbin.info/www/bejne/bnLVcqGOgcd5mc0 (another last live clip)

This. You really have to see Kurenai from the last live to fully understand the X Japan phenomenon (link above). And the "We Are X" documentary in a must-see, explaining all you need to know about this unique band (I'm NOT a die-hard fan - but this is definitly a very special band - their tragic path has to figure in rock 'n roll History)

It's interesting to notice the parallel path of the two most important japanese rock/metal bands of the eighties, X Japan on the male side and Show-Ya on the female side. Both bands lost their singer during the nineties (for slightly different reasons though, but both tried a rather unsuccessfull solo career) and both reunited later and are still active (well, in Yoshiki's mind at least for X Japan). Show-Ya's path is much less tragic though, they still have the original line up and a new album (their first in english), here's their last single kzbin.info/www/bejne/f6Wmhqyul8eabq8

if you want to know about jpop/rock, u cant forget about Shiina Ringo, and her band Tokyo Jihen! she is the culmination of Japanese subculture since the 90s and has influenced much of the music of Japanese subcultures and teenagers since 2000. She's the Qween of japan music scene. at the olympic games, she directed the "rio to tokyo" in 2016 and was planned to direct the tokyo2020 opening celemony canceled by the infectious. i recommend "群青日和", and "丸の内サディスティック", "NIPPON", "神様、仏様", "自由へ道連れ" "本能". she makes various genres of music, so i'd be happy if you could listen to some of them.

I hate Tohi's ex-wife till this day. She and her associates are essentially the one who broke X-Japan by brainwashing Toshi with her religion of some sort, forcing him to leave the group. If X was never disbanded in the first place, we probably would've still have Hide.

Drum in this track is pre recorded, yes, pretty sure there is no other drummer knowing Yoshiki. They are all emotional because they knew it was their last live, indeed. Long story short, the singer, Toshi, was tricked into some cult group and they took all his money and made him leave the band. But he was under a lot of pressure by his old friend Yoshiki since many years and working started to be a torture for him as well. When Toshi announced he wanted to leave the band all of a sudden, they all knew it was because of the cult but they let him do it, yet Hide asked him to do one last show to say goodbye to the fans, which they did. FYI Kei should be read "kay" hide should be read "heeday" Yoshiki should be read Yosh'ki
