I disagree. People from India have varying accents depending where they are from. Also in Sri Lanka itself, based on English proficiency the accent changes, that is there is a class system where English is used as frequently as the native tongue (when interacting with people within the same class). This is of course associated with wealth. Not sure, if India has evolved a similar system.

Not sure if the person interviewed at 3:38 / 10:46 in your video is from Sri Lanka or is from India, and she seems to speak and sounds with an Indian English accent . Once in another video she states that there are some differences between Tamil language of India vs the Sri Lankan Tamil language, while she stated that she uses the Tamil language as it is spoken in India (and does not speak the Sri Lankan Tamil language). In the video she states at 3:36 / 10:46 that about 85% to 90% can speak in English, but unfortunately the reality is not that, and you will find it when trying to come up with a general conversation with everyone.

@@Uni125-n1g Just found this video from the same channel , and yes she is possibly Sri Lankan but may have been heavily influenced while learning other languages from India such as Tamil and Telugu, and that person states that she can speak 6 languages and Sinhala language is her mother tongue, and that may be why She mentioned in a video that she speaks Indian Tamil language (Dialect) and not the Sri Lankan Tamil language (Dialect), as she may have learnt Tamil from an Indian Tamil Education source and eventually got more closer to an Indian English accent. This is a good example (Refer the link mentioned in this comment ) of the state of the country where a Sri Lankan Member of Parliament in the current government frets nervously sweating unable to comprehend what this reporter is asking him in English. Unfortunately this is an example that although English language is taught daily in the School Curriculum in schools in Sri Lanka every week, even such MPs don't take the trouble to learn English and make an attempt to be fluent at using English to communicate accordingly. The reporter realizes and asks the Minister in the government the same question in Sinhala and then he answers the question. Look guys, last two ladies given little bit of good interview. Rest of them weren’t success. If you want do it more successful way, speak to some people who finishing offices and also speak some students. Let me give some advice. I am Sri Lankan origin but brought up in England. Also I am secondary school teacher in England. Sri Lanka is Former British colony and Sri Lanka has same education system. England has GCSE OL and AL, Sri Lanka also has same curriculum. I am not Sri Lanka citizen but I love my country and follow much about education. As I know, 2002 start English medium again in national schools in St Lanka, but it’s optional, most of the school had both medium. In addition, since monitory, English is subject and it’s mandatory. Even AL, they are required to study English as mandatory subject and it’s equal to ILTS. There is no truth about people who lives in city, they can speak English. Even rural kids can speak perfect English. My parents from near Ella, and my relatives kids studying government schools in Badulla and they have perfect English. Please dont compare with Indian and Sri Lanka has perfect education but better accent. As last lady explained, it’s base on singhala native speaks. Sri Lankan always speaks with ‘R’ silent. Not Bud or Rrr 😂😂😂 I always watching you guys episode. I like your interviews with foreigners. God luck !!

Sri lankans can not speak fluent english. Coz we study in mother tongue. Almost 90% of the students study in mother tongue. But in india, their studying medium is english and they lack in mother tongue. I know many educated indians they cant even write and read their monther tongue. But every sri lankans are fluent in either sinhala/tamil. So for indians, this is not somethig to be proud about
