I love Allison watching her two life partners trauma bond
@sophieelsa7469
@sophieelsa7469 4 ай бұрын
I totally respect you and I know you probably just didn't know, but I want to jump in here immediately and let you know that that's not what a trauma bond is. A trauma bond is a psychology term for what happens when an abuser will give love and take it away in order to make their victim uniquely attached to them. It's why a lot of abuse victims will cling to the dynamic, or why they will keep ending up with abusive partners- there's something 'special' and addictive about that abuse cycle. I know that language changes and that it's probably too late to get people to stop saying this (along with completely butchering the definition of 'gaslighting'), but it does make it harder for abuse victims to be taken seriously when they talk about their own cycles of trauma bonding. I don't say this to be rude, but I think one should know the context behind what they say so they know what they're /actually/ saying without even knowing it. Again, I know you probably didn't mean anything by it and there's no ill feelings here, but I feel it is my duty to inform people whenever I see it xoxo

I'm using the term to be descriptive, it's bonding over trauma, and if you can't parse the nuance or someone else can't, that's not my responsibility. It's a KZbin comment guys

I had roommates who "didn't care about things" and I had no problem with that as long as it was just their things. The problem came when they extended that to my things. The broke things of mine, they would borrow things of mine and then lend them to other people without asking me first, and at a certain point when they were moving out I had to start checking all of their boxes to make sure they weren't taking things that belonged to me. It was difficult.

Omg, I had a roommate like that. He would take my stuff without asking and sometimes even break it without telling me. Honestly it wasn't just irritating, it was hurtful. Like, you care that little about potentially hurting me?

Apparently, the most annoying thing about me is thinking that trying to solve the problem IS validating that the problem exists and is important. And I know this doesn’t go over well, so I try to be like, “ugh, that’s so frustrating! I hate that you’re struggling with this, what bs.” But the whole time, I’m like, did I do the thing so we can move on to actually validating it please?

I havent watched the full video so im sorry if i get something wrong but ive definitely dated people who made a huge deal out of being annoyed by my habits even in jest and it altered the way i saw myself and dealt with my self image for a long time (even though at the time i laughed through it and somewhat enjoyed the moments of being center stage). Now i really dislike it and find it infantalizing.

😂 still haven‘t seen la la land 📋 for me the generalized anxiety thing of it just randomly attaches itself in a round-about way which makes it fairly unpredictable what the next fear source may become and what‘s behind that is usually a twist thing feels wild. where i could be scared of something one day but the next time i encounter something similar it doesn‘t strike any fear and i‘m just left wondering why it made me reactive then and not now ??? usually it almost feels more like my triggers of fear are fear-outlets energetically with such a diversion from what they may have bubbled up from experientially. like the consistency with the fear is much more subcobscious than the fear-attachments for me! annoys me about myself, the lack of red thread in that 🧐

I love the Pavlov dog stuff😭 I give my cat treats at bedtime, and share my bfast with her (I have chicken for bfast) so now she’s my alarm clock t go to bed, and goes yells at my carer when she hears me awake to make me food (she has worked out though when I have psychosis I will just give her half a pack of treats sometimes which she’s not supposed to have, so she comes yells at the box the treats live in when my voice goes weird. Amd when I used a wheelchair, I hit hr with it once and sh got loads of fuss and attention, so she’d lie in front of me like a meter away and cry like she was hurt then go up to one of us for picking up. She is a scammer lol)
