Loved this segment. I retired from the CHP after 31 years & drove the same 88 SSP for thousands of miles, including in some serious maxed out pursuits. Do you know the CHP unit # on yours? I’ve been looking for my old one & would gladly take that one of your hands if you were ever so inclined to get rid of it. :) One thing about our old Polaras was that although they were fast, they had terrible brakes that faded quickly with a horrible stopping distance.
@JustDrivenАй бұрын
Thank you so much for the watch and your service. The Mustang is the most complete older build we have. We have a build series with some great information in our our Playlist tab. The unit # on this vehicle may be in some of the paperwork we've dug up on it. We will see if we can find it and we will get back to you if we find anything helpful. As for the Polara, you're correct they are quick but not only can it not stop on a dime you'd be lucky if it stopped in time to clear a football field.
@JustDrivenАй бұрын
We could find the plate number but nothing yet on the unit number. Didn't the unit number and plate number line up somehow? The plate we had was and E plate: 433081 and came out of service in January of 1991.
@InlandOneАй бұрын
@@JustDriven Exactly…CHP uses the last 4 of the plate numbers to this day as the unit # so perfect! My take-home 1988 SSP was unit # 433018 so it and yours probably were equipped on the line close together since the plates assigned were not always sequential. If you ever decide to offload that car PLEASE let me know in NorCal. 😅 Thanks a lot for the reply.

@@JustDriven you're welcome. By the way, when i was watching your Dodge Charger Dyno Rematch video back in the month of i believe it was September where you guys took the car to Ish, when i was watch it, i heard a strange noise coming from the supercharger on the Dodge Charger you guys modified, is it supposed to sound like that? Because i'm curious.
@JustDrivenАй бұрын
We are not sure of the sound you heard that didn't sound right. We didn't hear anything out of the ordinary so if you could be more specific we could give you more information.
@xx_TBNRgaming_xx2k23Ай бұрын
@@JustDriven what i was referring to was when you start the car up and it makes this screeching noise from the supercharger and or blower when you rev it up.

From my understanding is, police are not allowed to tune up their cars with aftermarket parts. Is this true?
@ArielRicafort-g9vАй бұрын
They dont tune it out of reliablity reasons. They have to run and run day in and day out. If something breaks they should be able fix it on the cheap and adding performance parts (albeit go fast ones) is just unnecessary.
@YOEL_44Ай бұрын
I mean, all the equipment they add must be aftermarket, but why would they waste their budget in a catback and shiny wheels, that's not going to help them do their job better.
@kyle8952Ай бұрын
They would have no opportunity to. It's a tool that belongs to their employer, not their personal car. They don't have the right to mess with it, and have to give it back at the end of the shift anyway. (In yokel towns they let them park it at home but not in serious cities)

The Department owns the cars not the officers, but c'mon why can't they have a neon underglow kit?
