The next variation of ourselves, our goals, interests and beliefs may have changed. Maybe the next variant is more nasty or good than the last... maybe it just gets better or worse... I guess the key take away here is that some people can turn bad and then repent their ways... only to find it is too late to socially fix that image. Maybe we expect too much from flawed humanity. To expect perfection from personalities that are pretty much under the illusion of stablility.
