The style and tone in which Justin chooses to sing the song in this live version brings the meaning to a whole new level. I ain't no music theorist but the way he starts in a low range really connects me, almost like he is conversing with me. It shows his contemplation on his life as a teenager and the key range gives it the sense of the unease he may have felt. My favorite was when he goes into a falsetto during the first chorus 00:45, and transitions back to his chest voice on the last word. The falsetto really brings the emotions of hurt, vulnerability, and of course, "loneliness". The falsetto along with the last emphasis on the words "All" and "Call", it strengthens the message he's conveying, and it almost sounds like he's crying for help but is in a state of hopelessness. With the rest of the song, he transitions back into his chest voice and his tone now sounds like he's giving a speech. If you pay real close attention to which words he emphasizes on, you'll begin to understand the life he went through. Overall, this live version was just a masterpiece well done. This song truly brought me to tears. One of the main reasons why I love Justin, he sings with emotion, rather than just style, which I feel many pop singers lack nowadays. If you watch many of his live versions, you'll notice how differently he sings the song than from the original recording. There are certainly some other artists who do the same but not on the level as Justin.

When my daughter was 12, she showed me The videos of this amazingly talented boy who was getting so much attention, and I explained to her how vulnerable he was, to people who would see him as a source of profit. I prayed for him, as I prayed for my 3 children, asking for him to be protected. Each time he was making the news, I would feel so much tenderness and compassion, as a mother I knew that this huge success could be dangerous for his mental health. I felt that I wanted to reach out to tell him that our family would welcome him as one of us if he needed the warmth and care only a family can give. But I never reached out and I am sorry. He was just a kid who needed to have a normal relationship with a family. I hope that now that he has found a life partner, he will be able to have a fulfilling family life, and the support he missed as a young boy.
