Justin Collings: A Child Of The Covenant

An address given by Justin Collings, delivered June 11, 2024 at Ensign College.
Justin Collings was born in Bozeman, Montana and grew up in Provo, Utah. He attended Brigham Young University where he double majored in English and Italian. He continued his education by earning a PhD in History from Yale University, as well as a juris doctorate from Yale Law School.
After graduating from law school, he worked as a law clerk for the Honorable Guido Calabresi of the United States Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit. In 2013 he joined the faculty of the J. Reuben Clark Law School at BYU, where he later served as associate dean. His research focuses on constitutional law and constitutional history as well as religious freedom. In 2022, he was appointed BYU’s associate academic vice president for faculty development. Since June 2023, he has served as BYU’s academic vice president.
He has enjoyed serving in a variety of church callings including high councilor, bishopric councilor, ward choir director, and primary music, as well as a missionary in the Italy Milan Mission.
Brother Collings and his wife, Lia, are expecting their eighth child later this summer.

Seu discurso é excelente, eu gostei muito! Pensei nas vezes que fui ao Templo e com a sua paz que emana lá dentro pude conseguir superar muitos desafios e ter o Espírito em meu lar e em nossas vidas. Houve uma época nos meus estudos das escrituras que eu lia Pérola de Grande Valor, sempre, muitas vezes, Abraão e Moisés. E como eu podia sentir me tão próximo de Deus com as histórias deles e de Deus. Sinto obrigação de orar e agradecer ao Pai Celestial por tudo, as vezes acho que não vai acontecer nada, que tudo que eu tinha que fazer já aconteceu e agora eu só tenho que seguir a Jesus cumprindo os convênios, mas Deus não pensa assim e eu tenho que estar sempre preparada porque quando o gato vêm, como o Coelho da Alice, é muito preocupante e eu fico imaginando o que será e não sei o que fazer mas as coisas são reveladas mesmo que não pareça com revelação na minha mente e as vezes é bem mais simples, as vezes não, quando está muito agitado tudo, é preciso primeiro acalmar de dentro para fora, por isso o Templo é essencialmente importante.
