These over 40 years old elephant skin boots were just not fitting g right to the customer. As we get older our feet change so we resized these to fit the customers feet.

Watching these boots rather easily slip onto Brian's feet instantly told me that the widened boots should be very comfortable for him to wear. It is amazing that Brian has not worn these boots for 30 years and that now he can wear these boots again. I also noticed that Brian seems to keep his leather biker jacket in very nice condition. I really enjoyed your interview with Brian and his comments about these boots. I love Brian's comment that, "Making them right was worth the investment." This is exactly why people send stuff to Bedo's Leatherworks. Brian's best followup comment was, "I'm gonna wear these suckers out." Steve left a lot of stuff out in this video about many of the other steps which he performed, including how he increased the width of these boots. All of these steps are available in his other videos. It is obvious that Steve decided to concentrate on showing the upgrades to the original boot construction in order to highlight how the upgrades will increase the longevity of these very stunning boots. Steve, congratulations for another amazingly well executed job. And congratulations to Brian for trusting Steve to rework these remarkably handsome boots.

I know that cobblers like all leather heel stacks, because they can reuse them. Makes sense. I am amazed at how well the fiberboard has held up. The fiberboard did not disintegrate or otherwise fall apart in 40 years.

Really a beautiful job, sir. I have to agree with the customer that its a shame to ruin that finish you put on the sole - nice design which fit the style of the boots.

I personally am not thrilled about the idea of using elephant skins in shoes or anything else unless the elephant died of old age. Be that as it may 40 years ago things were different. I am impressed that you were able to make these remarkable and hopefully increasingly rare shoes into a better fit. As always your work is impeccable and a joy to watch.

I had a friend decades ago who had the exact same boot (early 80s). Those elephants were TOUGH. At the same time I had a pair of Tony Lamas made from Kangaroo and had lizard "critters" (stylish toe cap) which were the most comfy boots I have EVER owned/worn. I wore them until the uppers had holes in them. Even then I'd wear 'em, just to show they were LOVED and that I wasn't one to wear boots for special occasions. Those boots were finally retired in 2010. The 270* welt does look better than the 3/4 with pegs. A good slathering of Bick4 on those new insoles will help soften them for the break-in of the footbed impression. It's what I've done with all of my Allen Edmonds oxfords. Works like a charm. Love seeing that leather lining instead of canvas (hate that rot) used most of the time.

Hey Steve, I couldn't watch your videos in the past 6 months by a lot of reasons but it looks like you are not getting to many views and like as used to, and that's not fair your videos are better than in the begining of your channel. And the content and knowledge you share is beyond any discussion. I will see all the vids I havent seen in this months, but you should try to change the format of the videos (length more than anything). Maybe get someone who could make shorts like a preview of each long video. KZbin is unfair with the algorithm but there's always a way to use it for your benefit. I hope the likes anf views get up over again. Keep the good work master!

Great work, wow the elephant leather is beautiful! Quick question if you have the time: would a landis 12L be able to handle boot soles like the rapid e stitcher can? I managed to pick up an old landis L that I'm restoring from a retired cobbler shop from Camden New Jersey for 200$. It looks like its all there and I'm hoping it could be used to stitch boots and other thicker soles once I get it up and running. Thanks for all the great education into cobbler work you offer in these videos!
