This is coming directly from an NFL draft scouting report: "While he’s shorter and smaller than I usually like in a signal caller, Fields has all the other skills to be a dominant starter in the NFL. He’s a talented passer with great patience and poise. He possesses a next-level arm, and while he needs to improve his pass placement, Fields has next-level accuracy. Fields is also a threat to run with the ball, but he does so only when completely necessary." So your analysis is completely wrong. Justin Fields is, in fact, NOT fool's gold. You're just a hater who wants to see him and Ohio State fail
@TheBackSeatGM4 жыл бұрын
"flashes next level accuracy" doesn't mean anything when they literally even admit his accuracy needs work. He also is a passer first before he runs, which I like. He also has solid poise, I said that he's strong in the pocket he just makes dumb decisions while scrambling in it at times. That's just what one scouting report says too, that's not checking out the film it's just looking at a report. You're an OSU fan and biased. I'm an Oregon fan, sure they play OSU, but I don't care they also play Trey Lance and I love Lance. I didn't care for Herbert. I stay honest with my reports and I didn't like Fields. He's good at throwing under pressure and is mobile, but that's mostly it right now. I still think he has room to improve though

Guys are drafted high on potential not what they've done alone. He was in a new program as a first year starter with wr's he only started plsying with this year. Only 1 of those wr were drafted in the nfl and that was in the 5th rd. No one you're comparing him to has less then 2 years as a starter. I'd have more respect if u did this after his 2nd year as a starter

I think your analysis is pretty poor overall and there are a hundred reasons why. Part of it is you seem to he cherry-picking lowlights, which is a pretty easy thing to do for any player, and trying to create a broader narrative. Also, there are a number of plays you added that were not necessarily the fault of Fields but rather guys making great plays or those around him not doing their jobs. For example, at 6:14 that is a play that Ohio State has ran for the last 3 years since Ryan Day has been here. The play is hardly ever covered as long as the ball is accurate and on time, which it was not. BUT, that was not the fault of Fields. Watch Brandon Bowen #76 the right tackle, he gets beat horrifically off of the edge which forces Fields to be the late with the ball as he is forced to step up into the pocket. That play is designed is not set up for a hitch because it disrupts the timing which is why the DB was able to play. This is much easier to see on the all-22 film which I encourage you to start trying to find, because if you have any eyes for the game you will be able to recognize these things. Also, the throw at 6:35 is a really good throw and it's also a great catch, both things can be true at once. The throw at 6:41 is on Chris Olave for not holding his block which allows the corner to jump the route. At 7:08, that play is only a 2 man route, which is a concept I personally don't like, but Fields is forced to hold onto the ball because 2 guys are trying to get open among 7 guys in coverage. I agree that he either has to get rid of it or scramble (which he does on a play later in the game). I'm not sure what you're smoking when you say he has no anticipation. There are a bunch of examples that can be made of him throwing guys open, especially to the field. Some of these are better seen on the endzone cam view. I'm not sure what you were watching but that is a curiously bad takeaway. Your evaluation of his accuracy is where this analysis falls apart. You're cherry-picking a few poor throws, especially on throws outside the hash. Again, there are countless examples of some really elite balls that he throws to the boundary or the field, which you seem to be the most critical of. In the case of your downfield accuracy, I agree that he needs to become more consistent, but he certainly isn't poor at it. I mean fuck dude, you're bitching about his deep accuracy but then show a throw like at 3:50 which is a ridiculous throw under pressure. Now, the worst of your takes is your critique of his arm strength. Fields might actually have the strongest arm in this class. When you're looking at arm strength, distance downfield is not what you want to focus on but rather the pace of the ball as it goes outside of the numbers. The Big Ten Championship game is a pretty good cutup to see where his arm strength is very very VERY apparent. Again, watch the all-22 if you can find it, because you get a full appreciation for how strong these guy's arms are when you see how much wider the field is. Whenyou're talking about his mechanics and his arm strength, a lot of that actually comes down to just getting more live game reps. Your first year of starting is all about building chemistry with receivers and it's generally pretty good by the end of the year, but the improvement is dramatic in year two. Is Fields a perfect prospect by any means? No, of course he's not. You don't become perfect with only 14 starts. But to undersell his talent and declare him as "fools gold" after watching his tape is laughable to me. I'd be more than happy to talk more in detail about this with you but I highly suggest you reevaluate.

@TheBackSeatGM4 жыл бұрын
Very good but he needs a lot of improvement. Give him a year on the bench and if he's willing to learn how to read defenses, he's gonna be good. Not Lamar Jackson as a runner, but he's got mobility. He shows that natural arm strength. Not his ceiling, but I think I could see some Kyler Murray if Fields improves.

His accuracy is similar to what I saw with Kylee Murray, but Kyler had a beautiful touch pass. He needs to improve it but isn’t going to for sure make him a bust. And it is his first year starting, I stated he can still improve and this scouting report isn’t final yet. Honestly tho, I saw the same things on film pre and post injury
@vsauce46784 жыл бұрын
Fields is no elite prospect yet. I think he easily has top 5 upside but he’s a under developed version of Dak at Mississippi state but with a full elite team around him. I think he will develop to end up being Dwayne Haskins level prospect. But that is a good not great qb to get proper value you want him to be a 12-30 pick to get proper value early. He’s not pin point accurate, he is an athlete but not cam newton level. He can’t throw every ball consistently.
@TheBackSeatGM4 жыл бұрын
Agreed. If he fixes his mechanics, I think that fixes his arm strength issues and accuracy, also needs to work on progressions and mechanics. But if he gets all that basic QB stuff down with the right coach he will be a star in the NFL. He's far from that though as of his sophomore season. Definitely could get there.
@foxbodyblues67094 жыл бұрын
No, it’s TL you are thinking of with the inconsistent ball placement. If he didn’t have those receivers and their enormous catch radius to bail him out Clemson would (have) lost 2 games in 18 and 19. Because he doesn’t have those guys to bail him out anymore, Clemson loses twice this season.
@abegriggs174 жыл бұрын
You should’ve did this video after his second season not his first starting season. The gap for growth in one season is tremendous. He was just getting his beak wet and in a new program. Never said that, although Clemson's receivers were banged up all year. Both had great receivers, doesn't make a difference to me. Justin Fields having better receivers wouldn't make me like him more than Josh Allen coming out of Wyoming. Having good receivers give you stats, but it doesn't change a thing about your film. If you throw a dime that your receiver drops and gets picked, that's a better throw than if the receiver has to come back for a catch and gets a touchdown. The better throw would've been in the interception that wasn't the QB's fault. That's just a scenario of course though. And Justin Fields film before and after Wisconsin showed the same worries.
@foxbodyblues67094 жыл бұрын
If you think Fields had “great” receivers in 2019 you aren’t serious...Fields had to hold on to the ball because his AVERAGE receivers couldn’t shake competent coverage. Those 3 senior starters ran 4.65 and 4.7 to a man. 3 senior starters and only 1 drafted (7th round) receiver...and Dobbins couldn’t catch a cold. It’s TL you are thinking of with inconsistent ball placement, except when he was bailed out by those WRs and their enormous catch radius. Also: I almost broke out laughing when you said Haskins had a good offensive line.
@TheBackSeatGM4 жыл бұрын
I liked Haskins, but he did have a solid line. Not as great as Justin Fields, but it wasn’t bad

Andrew Lampke have to disagree. Look at the rushing yards per carry in 18 vs. 19... The 2018 had how many all conference performers? Then look at the 2019 line. All American RG, all conference (and future all American) C, all conference RG. 2020 will be even better: They replace good players at RT and LG with 5 star top 50 performers.
