They want to see as much Justin as they can. If he gets a chance during the season and looks good, I believe he gets extended if everything makes sense. The Steelers like to sign players before contracts get out of hand, like the minkah deal.

@@DeCurtaRicanExplain… what “gears”?
@jaredcampbell18172 ай бұрын
@@mljr.6134More experience, more on/off field leadership, better accuracy, better deep ball etc. The only thing Justin is better at is his running ability, which is only better due to his youth. Young russ may not have the speed and pure rushing ability that fields has, but his elusiveness and ability to make plays on the run was without a doubt better than fields. At this point in both of their careers, fields only has running ability over Russ. Cool ability, but not high on the list of attributes needed to be a quarterback in the national football league.
@DeCurtaRican2 ай бұрын
@@mljr.6134: When I mention “gears” I mean tools! Russ can do more sh!t, period, and he’s still a great runner himself. He’s not going to give a team 1,000 yards at this point, but he can give you 400-500 yards, which is 200% the average for a QB. People don’t realize that Russ is still in the top-10-15% as a rusher, and his arm talent is way above Fields’s despite what you may see in practice. Nobody makes the kinds of throws Russ does. He needs to use the middle of the field more, yes. He has gotten away from that in recent years, but Russ can make any throw any other WB can make, plus some throws they can’t, and yes, that includes Mahomes and Rodgers. I’ve seen it! He did it even in Denver with Courtland Sutton. I can back any of this up. Fields is an entice g talent but there is no way you put him out there over Russ. People need to forget Denver and forget his last year in Seattle. They’ll make every excuse for Fields but ignore all the garbage Russ had to deal with over the last two years in Denver and his last 5 years in Seattle, and he was still a legit MVP candidate in every one of those 5 years! People talk about Russ like he’s not that dude.

I can't wait to see Russ against steelers pass Rush because i know 100% what Fields brings to the table with his wheels! OSU fans know if Fields is put in the right situation, which I believe he is now, he will THRIVE. Rookie strategy. If there is an above average veteran on the team at that position, the rookie doesnt start the year and learns. If no veterans ahead or below average players at the position, toss them in and let them learn trial by fire. With a good mentor we can bypass some of the pains of trial by fire. With a bad mentor, trial by fire will provide better lessons than the mentor will offer.

The fact that Fields is such a stud but can’t snatch the gig out from Russ outright says a lot about how good Russ is. If the shoe were on the other foot, Russ would be the presumptive starter. Russ needs to be the starter for this year, but Fields is a great athlete, and if he continues to develop, maybe Russ finds a new home next spring. He’s still a big-time baller, but if Fields looks like something, you go with Fields…NEXT YEAR! Russ is a big boy, and if he plays well, he will have a great market next year. There will be injuries, disputes, unexpected trades, and possibly a retirement or two. Belichick wanted Russ and he was going to bring Russ to Atlanta if he had gotten the job. The other Atlanta coach was also interested in Russ but the Steelers stole Russ before he could even hit the market. Thats what people aren’t paying attention to.
