Yeah, but at the same time, there are people who could never get a 4.0 majoring in microbiology no matter how hard they worked. So he still isn't giving himself any credit for his baseline intelligence. And, to be honest, I think he quite literally doesn't realize how athletically gifted, and somewhat intellectually gifted, he is. He doesn't even fully understand. Amazing.

JH would only do interviews like this with teammates or friends. He’s beyond grounded. He’s underground. This is what you’d want your son or best friend to be like. Even Drue was just astonished how interesting of a person he is. He does not worry what ppl think. It’s a cliche to say but it’s hard to do. It’s whatever his parents or coaches say that matters. If football ended tomorrow he would be upset but know he gave it his all and had a good time and move on with life. Football aside. He’s a special person that will also give back.

It’s so awesome how Herbert always says “we, our” instead of “me, mine”. Selfless to the core. I remember in the Indy hard knocks, Carson Wentz would never say “WE need to do so & so” it was always “YOU need to…”

Young man I'm impressed. I'm 62 and very rarely am I surprised. I'm retired and I have always been a dolphin fan from Miami, but now I'm also a charger fan because of this teams players like you two. Love the interesting questions and especially the answers. I grew up a military brat then I went in for 11.5 years and didn't stress about planning my future because I believe God had a plan to reach me in ways I never would have dreamed. Literally guys this talented just aren't like this! I try to tell others NFL fans, and they don't believe me! And I think one reason is that Herbert doesn't actually fully understand how good he is/will be by the time it's all said and done. He's just trying to get better whatever isn't perfect yet and doesn't realize all the "want" in the world would never make most people become that good.

Oh yeah he was a three-sport athlete in high-school. As an Oregon fan, I truly believe the only reason he didn't start from the jump his Freshman year was he wanted to play out the baseball season for his team so he didn't get in for Spring camp at Oregon.
