the truth about the Irish accent is that it changes depending on what part of Ireland a person is from... So when an american film says that a character is from Dublin, and then the actor does a Northern accent or a Cork accent, it ruins the illusion. That's why Irish people comment on it. Notice we also comment when the accent is perfect. ie. Orlando Bloom in the Ned Kelly film and Brad Pitt in Snatch.
