When Chris stapleton adds his voice to this it just launches it into the stratosphere! How he pounds out meloooodyyyyyy 😍 the voice of a generation he's incredible . . .And big respect to Justin for reinventing himself . . I hope this is how his music will go now because he's so talented and hiding behind music and dancing etc although he's good at it doesn't highlight his real talent .. . .Such a breath of fresh air in the music world I seriously can't stop listening to this song it's perfect . . .That bit when it's just Chris Justin and the choir for the first time goes right to the bone it's perfect

The song is actually about criticism JT received about cultural appropriation in his music. His tweet in response could easily interpreted as dismissive, even defensive, and he regretted his words because he says they were not what he felt or thought. JT had asked chris to write songs for his album, and “Say Something” was one of the tunes they collaborated on (with other folks). Chris had no intention of singing with JT on it, but was asked to, which, IMO, elevated the song even more.

Music is an aggregate process. Cultural appropriation is joke in regards to music. Gospel met country. Fast forward, blues, rock n roll, funk, metal, punk, rap, hip-hop, and today. The whole story is a cultural collaboration. Those who say otherwise is ignorant of the historical narrative. WOW! If you really listen, you can hear the acoustics of the building they're in. At one point not long after Justin Timberlake went solo, I realized that his talent was undeniable as was his knowledge of bands, artists and music. I was part of a catering crew at a golf tournament in Central California and had just gotten off work. I was having my dinner and a drink wear a Hockey Jersey and listening to music on my headphones. Jeremy Roenick and Justin Timberlake walk by in they're golf get up. To my surprise that came back out and sat at my table so I took my headphones off and at first we talked about Ice Hockey and football. Then Jeremy asked me what I was listening to. When I said "Heavy Metal", Jeremy smiled at Justin and said "Told you. Most hockey fans listen to the Metal"... they asked what bands. At the time I was listening to SAVATAGE and they reacted "Oh, Yeah! Tampa guys know how to rock!". Which tells me they're familiar with the band. They asked me if I ever listen to Justin. I answered honestly that I like most of what I have heard from him and the songs on EA Sports games I played but didn't own any of his music. Jeremy asked if I listened to his band. I told them I didn't know he had one. He said, "I don't. I just wanted to see how honest you were being". The rest of the conversation is classified information 😏

This is how I interpret the song: He's talking about the public feeling like they have a right to know everything about his life. It sounds like he made mistakes in his relationship and they became public knowledge. Everyone's telling him to comment on it, but he doesn't want to be just another piece of gossip. He wants more control over what he publicly says and doesn't say. "Sometimes the greatest way to say something is to say nothing at all."
