“if i’m dead i can’t write songs” that quote really hit the heart for me. tragic loss of a brilliant artist.

Solid interview. Did exactly what it should, introduced me to something new and captured my interest in the subject. Good stuff.

“… and hopefully you don’t get young and dead in the process” of trying to figure that out. Damn. What a talent gone decades too soon.

QTV please correct video description: you spelled Zandt as Szant. Give TVZ the respect he deserves.

great interviewer.

He was clearly mockin' the fact that the description misspelled Townes' name and on the other note Steve Earle once said "Townes van Zandt is the best songwriter in the whole world and I'll stand on Bob Dylan's coffee table in my cowboy boots and say that"

He fought so hard to beat getting high. Got to interview him a couple of weeks before a Dallas show. He was so sweet and kind. We connected on our feelings about TVZ. He invited me to a show at a radio show the day of the show. He was wasted. I wanted to take him home, put him in my son’s old room, feed him and let him sleep and rest. His death hit so hard. Talent like his is rare. So sad his voice has been silenced. Rest now, sweet soul.

Do you have your own opinion on music or do you listen to every Violin player. They are not the judge of what's good and what isn't. I don't really get the 'elitist' part either, in what way is Justin an elitist. This music comes from the heart from a man who has been through a lot of shit. I think it's far from 'silly' I think it's very sincere.

Justin looks a lot like me! Wow! I guess skinny nerdy guys with glasses CAN be popular and successful! LMAO!

Really? Townes Van Zandt. Besides Bob Dylan he's probably the greatest American songwriter who ever lived.

I don't know about that whole turning into your farther non-sense...I always tried to avoid absorbing the influences of my mother and stepfather and feel like turning in to my dad would be the unheralded destiny.

What he actually said is - you turn in to your mother 😉

I love him and agree with him, but he is such an elitist. I listen to all kinds of music for all different reasons. According to a violinist, his music is good for nothing too. Music is for all different purposes.. sometimes to just have fun and be silly.
