For everyone making the link between this and Holocene, JV said himself in an interview that Holocene is this song reworked and evolved. He wrote this before he got really big and when he was releasing the second album, he couldn't get this song out of his head and it kinda fit but he had to evolve it and then Holocene was born

This guy is pure talent. Might have heard his other band Bon iver, if not Holocene is s great song to check out, it sounds like a revised version of this song, both are great

It's so interesting to hear an artist before they've found their "voice" - I don't mean his obvious falsetto, just his melody style in general. You can tell he really found his stride melody-wise once For Emma was released, everything since then is instantly recognizable as Justin Vernon.

I don't understand how someone can conceive something so perfect, but somehow he does this in every single one of his songs. Its almost like he has found some way to tap into all of the pain and hurt in the world that people are feeling, and he's trying to comfort us, and it's working. God I love him.

he is the most talented, heart-felt, male, possibly even of either gender, artist i have ever heard. Every time I hear a song of his i just get lost in it. so much talent and artistic feelings and creativity i don't even know how he deals with it all.
