1965. No autotune, no filters, no technological help, just raw talent.

I enjoyed your reaction. 74 yr. old, here. Yes, the music, back in the day focused on feelings and love, more so then than now.

This was a great band from the 60's-70's. The lead singer had a very powerful voice. Some of their hits were "She Cried", "Come A Little Bit Closer", "Only In America" etc. In 1969, they recorded an album of their favorite oldies called "Sands Of Time", which included the hit "This Magic Moment" (The Drifters). They also had a hit with "Walkin' In The Rain" (The Ronettes).

I liked the music of Jay and the Americans, and this one was one of my favorites. Sadly, Jay passed away in 2021, but his son, Beau, sings. He did the song Here Comes the Lion Guard which is from the Lion King tv show.

Jay was a classically trained opera singer so that makes this song range easy for him. He was sining like this in his later years. Still had the voice. Enjoyed your appreciation of this song. Before auto tune.

This was one of my favorite groups from the 60s. He could hit those high notes with very little effort . I haven't heard this song for many years. Thanks for the memories. 😊❤

I was born in 69 and my parents had a lot of Jay & The Americans so I grew up with this music and my sons have grown up with it however, my husband who just turned 70 this year, had never heard it. lol His parents were more Lawrence Welk than Top 40. lol. He used to be surprised when our youngest would know music from the 50s, 60s etc but now he just accepts that our sons are older souls than he is. 😂

I enjoyed your reaction to an awesome song. I was a little boy when I first heard this. My auntie and her boyfriend and a bunch of friends used to listen to the car radio while parked in the alley next to our home. First time I heard it I knew I would enjoy this song for the rest of my life. I'm in my 70s now and still love it.

I think that was the best song he ever made his range is really out of this world I compare it with Bobby Hatfield had the same they're both excellent best singers and one more the lead singer of The Platters my prayer you have to hear that also I don't hear that so much nowadays I'm 89 years old I just don't hear that kind of singing anymore the lead singer of Queen also very good pardon my punctuations I get in trouble for that all the time I don't have them. I'm 89 what do you expect people out there.

They and every other band in world was having to compete with the Beatles and the British 'invasion". They played at my high school in NJ in the mid 60s. The other band was the Ronettes which you would love."Be My Baby"

This song always makes me a little sad because it was one of my mother's two favourite songs. (The other was Les Bicyclettes de Belsize by Engelbert Humperdinck).

I thank God & my mom & dad for raising 4 boys in San Diego in the 1950s & 60s, when America was still innocent as was the music vis a vis today. At 76 I still love this music & never listen to any music past 1970...it's just not quality.
