Just as you said, he made it his own! Reminder for the Dears:: The MTV youtube channel Friday Livestream resumes on June 4. With the effort of fans around the world Dimash has finished #1 in requests in 9 of the past 10 weeks. In order to keep him on top (and to get two of his music videos played instead of just one) we need to show up en masse and type REQUEST DIMASH as many times as possible in the chat during the three hour program. The MTV Friday Livestream appears on youtube every Friday from 5-8 pm New York time (don't forget to calculate your time zone differences). It was against the program rules. They changed the rules the next year “after Dimash.” The audience were the judges and Dimash was the audience favorite. Simply against the rules. Glad Dimash’s performance got them to change the rules.

Dimash was invited as a guest performer to celebrate the Finale of "Singer 2018" on April 20, 2018. He performed his explosive cover of "Hello", a song made popular in ’70s by Lionel Ritchie. Why Dimash chose this song? On the night of Singer’s 2018 finale, he celebrated his one-year anniversary of his own finale night with "Singer". I loved your reaction. Dimash's rendition of "Hello" was a guest performance on "I am a Singer 2018". He was not competing as he had the previous year. At the end of the second verse, Dimash sang "I love you" in Mandarin ("Wo ai ni") to the Chinese audience, and again in the third verse, adding "I love you" in Kazakh, before whispering "Thank you" in Mandarin at the end. Dimash beautifully incorporates Middle Eastern (Armenian, Turkish, Arabic, Azerbaijanian, Kazakh) runs in the song. This is my favorite rendition of the song; even better than the original in my humble opinion. Regarding the show, "I am a Singer" is an annual Chinese music competition between famous and established professional singers where the audience phones in to determine the winner after each episode. The audience is the same throughout the entire show, 500 with musical backgrounds and they judge the show by points each week. The competition consisted of 14 rounds, lasts almost 4 months and competitors are eliminated throughout the season. Every performance is live and no lip-syncing or auto-tune is permitted. Pure unadulterated vocal ability only. I have watched several of the 2018 performances, and I was blown away by the talent that China features in that competition. For the 2017 season, Dimash had been invited as a wildcard and was the first foreigner and youngest person to ever compete in it. After his first performance (SOS), he became a superstar in China overnight. His Chinese competitors called him their "little imported brother." The other already well-known contestants were in absolute awe of him and joked that they might as well go home. Dimash won the first two episodes that year. He also won the 6th, for his rendition of “Adagio”, a song made famous by Lara Fabian. In 2017, first place went to the famous Chinese 51 y/o singer Sandy whose first album came out before Dimash was even born. Dimash took second place overall, however, lost by a very narrow margin. He placed poorly for his performance of "Uptown Funk", which cost him a lot of points. Although Dimash did not win the show, he immediately became a beloved star in China.

This was a one episode guest appearance in 2018, which was the year after he competed. In 2018 the winner was Jessie J as they changed the rules that stopped Dimash being eligible to win in 2017 so they changed the rules to allow anybody the ability to win.

This was 2018 season of The Singer, Dimash competed in 2017, he was invited back as a guest singer in the Final Episode of this next season. This was the season that Jessie J won (from UK), they’d changed the rules by then, to allow a foreigner to win….It really doesn’t matter that Dimash didn’t win, he still became a superstar in Asia on the back of that show and since then he is becoming famous worldwide….

In 2017 Dimash entered the competition as a wild card performer completely unknown to the Chinese people. His cover of SOS put him on the international map and from one day to the next he had millions of Chinese fans and could no longer go out without security! He made it all the way to the finals. For a non-Chinese, unknown singer, that's amazing. This is the type of show that features well known, very successful artists, who are very well known to the Chinese people. In 2018 Jessie J won the show, beating artists such as K Z Tandingan, just to give you an idea. Dimash owes a huge debt of gratitude to the 2017 show which made him known to worldwide audiences overnight. The scary part is that he's improved his performances in every way since that show!

Yes, this was part of the 14-week The Singer (Chinese tv show). As a wild card and the only foreigner, the first time they had a foreigner (non-Chinese), his contract specified that he could NOT win. This is the final of 2018 season. He was a guest. You guys are talking about the 2017 season where he took 2nd place. DIMASH was scheduled to sing only two songs then the producers would kicked him out. He won first place for both Episode 1 and 2. He stayed all the way to Episode 14. At that time non- Chinese are not allowed to win. The fans complaint. The next year 2018 Jesse J won a non-Chinese contestant. They've changed the rule.

Yes you are right because he is not a chinese thats why he is only 2nd place in that chinese competition last 2017. But he became a superstar in China and most chinese protest why did he not won. You know what they should not invite some other countries if always chinese people won. Only Dimash sing in that competition with many languages.
