But me and jack had a big fight with each other and now I can't even smell it without getting sick to my stomach. That's hilarious that you mentioned that. Enjoyed your commentary. Something you said about black and white drinking fountains reminded me of something that has stuck with me for almost 60. When I was about 7 yrs old I went to get a drink in JC Penney’s in Texas. There was a black lady waiting at the children’s fountain while the adult fountain had no one waiting. I said, “Ma’am you can get a drink from that fountain” and she said, “no, honey, I’m not allowed to drink out of that fountain.” It made no sense to me. I told my mom and she explained to me that black people were not allowed to drink out of that other fountain. She went on to explain to me how wrong that was, but she really didn’t have to because in my child’s mind I instinctively KNEW how wrong that was. It was such a profound experience that I remember it so clearly all these years later. People don’t want to see it, but we have come a long ways since then.
