Thank you for this, Justin. Many of us, myself included, sometimes take the idea of color harmony without attaching much importance to it. And may I say, also, that every one of your models is absolutely gorgeous.

Very well presented. I’ve been shooting pro for 18 years but still need to revisit the basics since I’m a bit scatterbrained 😆 . Thank you!

Another great video from you - thanks for sharing this ☺ QUESTION: At 6:50 I'm not sure I understand how you mean. Can you expand a bit on this - how/when you use the two different ways? Thanks in advance ;-)

Thanks so much Susanne. :) Yes I go much deeper into this exact topic in my course (link in description); but I'll give you an example, in my urban/street photos, I will use the cool White Balance in-camera, and then warm up the skin tones in the edit to create a complimentary color palette. I will also typically cool off the surrounding tones even more to further enhance the color contrast. Does this help?

Some good ideas. Do these ideas work as well if a nice looking and young female is not the subject?
@justinlaurens9 ай бұрын
Yes these are photo enhancers. Works for any type of photo tbh. Although just like in landscape photography, taking a photo of a beautiful mountain will always look better than a small, featureless hill. As with any photography genre- a nicer looking subject makes a nicer looking photo. This is a game of aesthetics. That being said, art is subjective. So it’s up to you as the photographer to determine what you deem to be a nice looking subject.

Do you exclusive shoot women for your portraits?

Important information if you have a studio to create your photo. I shoot mostly nature and am at the mercy of nature.
@justinlaurens10 ай бұрын
I actually rarely shoot in studio. Shoot most of my portraits outdoors too. The color theory tips in this video apply mostly to shooting outdoors (that’s why I say you don’t need to shoot in a studio or use elaborate props/wardrobes, you just need to employ Color theory)

it's useful for portraits and if you know the location in advance, otherwise you are a bit tied to chaos X) (ex: if you shoot sports or street photography it's hard to control these elements, maybe you can bend a bit in post)
