Happy to say I have a few of the items and they all have worked well. The little flashlight, MT100 jacket, and pad especially, have surprised me with how well they performed at their price! Even the charging bank is my go to for traveling in general not just pack packing. Good list Justin! Look forward to seeing how the pad does in colder temps too. Have used it down to 10c and found myself really warm still, so I'm hoping for good things!

I have the Hikenture pillow, and I love it! Its about the same price as the Trekology ($22 vs $20 USD) but is a different shape that works a lot better for me. Ive not tested the pad strap on it, though, because im a mummy bag person.

That inexpensive power bank also out performs almost every other power bank. It’s rated at 10,000 mA but it’s actually 15,000 mA. It beats any of the big names out there. I have two of them and I love them.

Revisiting this video, finally got me the Hikenture sleeping pad, you're right the vavle is finicky but if you use a tongue depressor, popsicle stick, or preferably a pink long spoon handle to leave the valve open which then works ok to get the air out faster than having to handle the valve every two seconds.
@brosoutdoorsofficial22 күн бұрын
I've found (And I belive it may have said on the packaging) that you can pull the flap sort of out of the value and it will catch itself in the hole to dump air quickly
@draekko_22 күн бұрын
@@brosoutdoorsofficial i'd rather not pull on anything that might break out in the field, especially if your tired or cold you might pull to hard and break it. It looks fragile AF. Ergo i'd rather wedge something non sharp in there than possibly break it. It's not like it was a Nemo or Xterm or some other big name where you could get it fixed or replaced under warranty so being chinesium products they have technically no warranty imo whatever the paper says in the box. So i'd rather baby it than not.
@brosoutdoorsofficial22 күн бұрын
@@draekko_ I don't know if I was fully clear earlier where nothing is actually coming out, but more that the flap that serves as the valve is just being flipped in the opposite direction as if you were to press it and let air out. That being said, it's definitely fair to want to avoid any potential strain on the pad but in my experience it seems pretty harmless. (edit: there is a visual of what I mean on the 3rd picture of the amazon listing page)

I cut a tarp and sewed it into a mid tent, ground sheet is tyvek. Myog backpack with ccf mat pocket for rigidity. That way I have winter and summer kits for under 1000. Thermarest pad and bag for winter Klimit xframe pad and northface bag for summer. Black diamond shell, marmot midlayer, various merino base layer. Showa black gloves, milspec wool liner gloves. Not sure what else but i was boelrn into poverty and while climbing out can still afford and understand gear by employing myog wherever possible, even with a trowel.

Why does no one talk about about stomach sleepers?
@kcricket392 ай бұрын
No one likes us! I'm kidding, but I think we're the most rare. I don't think most people can stomach sleep without being on a real mattress. I've had decent luck with the Klymit Static V Lite Insulated and a mummy bag from Big Agnes. It isn't an ultralight set up, but it has worked for me so far.

I really like these budget gear list videos. Regarding tents, there are many cottage options for tents for just a bit more than the Lanshan that are totally worth the mention. Gossaamer Gear One, Tarptent (Preamble, Protrail, Notch, Stratospire 1), Six Moon Designs Lunar Solo, Durston Xmid 1). All of those I'd recommend before the Lanshan. Also recommend the Uniqlo Ultra Light Down collection for a solid budget down jacket.

This is ironic as I was making a wish list of gear to help me meet the UL threshold but I was looking for more budget friendly items. I'd be interested to see your thoughts on the Naturehike 65L backpack as that will be my upgrade pack. Same volume as my current pack but nearly a pound lighter. I love the pad recommendation though, I hope they bring it to the US soon as that R value is something serious! Peace!

Have you ever tried the Granite Gear Crown series of packs? They’re a little heavier than the Durston at 2.5lb for regular length, if you leave the lid behind it’s 2.25lb (55l capacity) and I think another 6oz if you remove the frame sheet (I wouldn’t myself.) I got my Crown2 60l for $75 new about 2.5 years ago, MSRP is $200 but you can find them for $125ish often. Much more than 32lb and mine starts to become a little uncomfortable but it might just take a little change in packing. Up to around 30lb, though, it’s amazingly comfortable. Plus you get nice long load lifter straps and a hip belt good for up to 42” waist. Huge hip belt pockets with smooth zippers, too. The Crown3 60l MSRP is a little more, I’ve seen them for $175 but don’t need another pack. Weights are about the same, you can add a 3oz aluminum stay that pushes the nominal weight rating from 35lb to 40+.

Hey @JustinOutdoors , one thing I've NEVER seen mentioned on anyone's list of ultralight gear is Decathlon's MT900 Down sleeping bag. Is it any good? A down sleeping bag for $240 CAD seems reasonable. 950 g 500g of down. 800 cuin 90/10 mix down/feathers. 0º comfort / -5º Limit I don't know if it's bad or good or just meh... as I never see any reviewers mention it. How does it compare to the Moondance? I know you've extolled the value of Decathlon before, so I figured I'd reach out and get your opinion. I guess the Moondance is quite a bit lighter.
@JustinOutdoors2 ай бұрын
The MT900 is a really solid bag and one of my top recommendations, but is a little on the heavy side for the temp rating. Pretty standard for bags though. If someone likes sleeping bags and wants the best option out there (not even budget option necessarily), then then the MT900 is the way to go.
@TheNewGreenIsBlue2 ай бұрын
@@JustinOutdoors Thanks so much for the reply! I always wondered why it wasn't mentioned. The cynic in me always wondered if a lot of YTers can't get some of these larger "consumer" brands like North Face/Ice Breaker to send them samples to test... whereas random Amazon brands and cottage companies will... but I know you've put Decathlon stuff to the test before and it's very accessible to most, so nice to hear how it compares!
