If you watch the full extended documentary video on the making of this song in the studio you will see that Freddie's all over this song and Roger even admitted he changed all of the lyrics LOL.

The one person you did not see was Queen's long time session keyboard player on stage. Queen did not use a backing track. The keyboardist only does vocoder parts. On the studio making of video you can see a Fairlight C.M.I. IIx, Roland Jupiter-8 and an Oberheim synthesizer. A Yamaha DX-7 was used in the control room. You can also Rodger's Simmons electric drum kit in the studio footage. Alot of the songs that are on the A Kind Of Magic album were used in the original Highlander album. One of Freddie's best vocals ever was the song Who Wants To Live Forever.

Queen opened with “One Vision” during the 1986 Magic Tour. I really love this song! FYI - The B-side of the single is “Blurred Vision”. 😂 It took Queen 4 yrs to negotiate for the Budapest concert (Iron Curtain). Please do TIE YOUR MOTHER DOWN live in Montreal 1981. 🤘🤘

You definitely need to watch the documentary of one vision and the One vision extended.

Queen live, IMO was a whole different beast! Thank you for doing clips of the Budapest concert. Much appreciated.

I tend to love the Wembley 86 version of "One Vision"... it feels like it has more energy. It was the home turf. But agree, the long "One Vision Documentary" is a fun and intimate look at the inside workings of Queen. (Although Brian has, on many occasions, said he cringes watching it because they were not themselves, but acting for the camera. I still love it and imagine the only thing missing is the yelling.)

Justin this was also the feature song in the movie "Iron Eagle"...a very cool studio vid..a "making of "type showing them recording the track. The album is great, and they hit the flat 6 twice on the record.suprised you don't know it

Typical 1980s tacky top gun copy. The one vision video for the single is really Cool. You seem not to be keen on the later material.Justin you are missing out."who wants to live forever"is highly reacted on KZbin, but you would do it way better because of being a player/producer.Even hot space, the horns on staying power are sick...I'm gonna sneak a gift card..my wife would castrate me if I paid for a reaction lol,but your shit is really good

What a way to start a show. Arguably Queen were the best live band at this moment in time. Hammer to fall and the cover version of Tutti Frutti are both worth a look Justin. Thanks.

The fried chicken bit goes like this they were putting the song together and spending a lot of time in the studio ordering a lot of take out from various menus and fried chicken was always the main thing and they finally got sick of it. Freddie loved changing all the words around when they were practicing. A really funny video is the making of One Vision ( the longer version ) ✌🏼

I love this song and it is a great opener for a show. The video on this is really nice and clear, I am wondering if it was filmed with regular film instead of video film. Actually all the food choices came from a Chinese Take-Out menu they had laying around in the studio. At one point Freddie picked it up and used the words from the menu to fill in the song. There is a touch of coincidence regarding the Fried Chicken at the end, in that Roger wrote this song originally about Martin Luther King and one time when MLK was asked what his favorite food was, he replied Fried Chicken. I don't know if anyone in the band knew that little bit of trivia at the time, but it is fun that it is in there.

It was filmed on film, the Hungarian government funded film company scrambled all available film cameras in Hungary - 16 if I remember correctly - to film this event. They then made it as a feature film with some "tourist" shots of the band members included in between songs. Unfortunatly everything that wasn't included in the film - several songs - was more or less thrown away. So all that is shown on the bluray is what is available visually. Which is a pity since it looks beautiful. The full concert is available in audio format at least. I do prefer the Wembley over it though. It is later on the tour, and Freddie is getting a bit tired during the concert that affects his vocal performance.

Btw Justin, as these are recorded in advance, I don't know whether you checked out " I want to break free" from this concert, the big John Deacon number. It seems to be missing in one main playlist but is on other videos. Just thought I would say in case.

Freddie's best made up lyrics for this song were "One dump, one turd, two tits, John Deacon" which can be heard in the "making of One Vision" documentary. Very funny.

One Vision's music video is one of the band's best. It was filmed during the recording of the song in the studio and shows all the energy of the Queen members. It is worth checking: kzbin.info/www/bejne/ZpCUeoCQoq-YY7c

The full extended documentary is a must! You can see the band's members working together. For me, the Kind of Magic tour is a bit sad. It was the last one and as you can see, Freddie was exhausted. Knebworth Park and Wembley were his last concerts. The tour had been very demanding, the stage was immense and Freddie already felt that something bad was happening to him. I suggest you Who Wants To Live Forever. I prefer Budapest version, but Wembley it's OK, too. Thanks!

When I watch the Wembly concert I've always said Freddie looks so tired. Even though he hadn't gotten I positive test back yet I believe he knew.

Yes, although he was officially diagnosed with full-blown AIDS in 1987, Freddie had been suffering from symptoms of HIV infection for years. Fatigue was very common, along with other symptoms such as sore throat, fungal oral infections, or diarrhea. It's almost certain that he suffered them to a greater or lesser degree before the official diagnosis, when Kaposi's Sarcomas began to appear. At that time, AIDS was a disease with a great stigma. People died in great pain and in many cases, like Freddie, hiding their illness as much as possible.

I agree with the other comments here you should do the making of this song. It shows how they worked and Freddies naughty humor

One vision of a favorite food All Over The World (perhaps) . . . 'fried chicken'. You know Freddie didn't gravitate to giving a political statement so Freddie dropped in humour with the 'fried chicken' line. (BTW - What Is A Flat Six????) Anyway, Fried chicken worked! We laugh, we shake our heads.....even tho' this being after Live Aid and emphasising the 'unity' model surely rested easily with all of Queen. The song a Great Concert Opener, and....folks surely in a relaxed, quizzical mood after he yelled what millions like, 'fried chicken'!
