X’s Face, 1000 X’s & O’s & June are my favorites. I don't really care for the rest of the album, but I'm grateful he released it.

'million dollar show' sounding like a High School Musical song lol maybe but I love High School Musical songs though. Also why do I feel like I could hear MJ sing 'Shut This Down', it has that angry funky Mike type of melody, I definitely could hear him on this

Would recommend checking out the demo version of 1000 Xs & Os from the 90s w/ Nona Gaye, I like that version too

Fallinlove2nite version with Zooey Deschanel is actually perfect, it's such a duet song! the solo version is alright but Prince's voice harmonizes really well with Zooey's

Judith Hill was a contestant on The Voice. Prince produced, wrote and played on her first album. Great listen. Only 2 songs have no prince involvement.

I finally came back to watch the rest of this reaction. 😂 June is one of my favorite songs. He wrote it on his birthday in 2015, so the birthday he is referencing in the song was his own. The pasta burning is supposed to symbolize the amount of time that passes...I've never burned pasta, but I assume you'd have to cook it for a really long time. Lol. If you listen to it with headphones on, the sound moves back and forth between your ears and feels almost hypnotic. And the lyrics feel more like fleeting thoughts than anything else, almost meditative...acknowledging them and then moving on. One of the times Prince retweeted me was in reference to this song...I said something along the lines of how I love how he is lost in thought and gets distracted by a synthesizer solo in his mind. 💜And him saying "oh yeah, it's June" isn't supposed to be cryptic. He literally gets so lost in thought that he forgets where he is in space and time. The smell of the pasta burning brings him back into the present, and he remembers what month it is (back to the reference about his birthday).

On June when he says somebody famous had a birthday today all I saw was another full moon is a reference to Lionel Richie to me. Lionel's Birthday is June 20 which is summer solstice which means the moon is at it's fullest.

Hard rock lover X's face June and 1000X's &O's are my jams on this album, but the thing about him is there can be a song or album you may hate you may find yourself going back to it and loving it.

My feelings about this album pretty much align with yours. Also, I heard one of the other versions of 1000 Hugs and Kisses . . . it was a faster version . . . still solid, but I prefer this version.

The funny thing is that my niece who’s in her mid 20s and her friends who are in a dance group together love this whole album! I like Phase2 better but the younger generation log people that I’ve come in contact with likes it! 🤷🏾♂️

I can only imagine that Prince was in extreme physical pain by the time this was released. I was not hearing his new music so much by 2015. The best I can do is hear this for what it is on the face of it. It makes it a bit easier to listen to to all the way through, track after track here. Rise so high fall so far. Bless that purple heart. The second half of the album redeemed the first half.

I am surprised hearing those negative opinions because it's one of my favourite albums by Prince and I listen to it top to bottom with no skips, sometimes twice in a row 😂

I honestly had to stop watching before you started talking shit about Ain't About 2 Stop. I love this album and have tons of great memories about him playing these songs live, and you were kind of ruining it for me. I guess that just shows you how subjective art is. Prince said inspiration is two-sided, the artist needs to be inspired to create and the listener needs to be inspired to receive the art the way it is intended. 🤷♀But I gotta say, there was one show where he had that low bass line from the transition from Ain't About 2 Stop into Like a Mack on a loop and just played a guitar solo over it for a good 15-20 minutes. That was dope. If you know, you know.

However, his vocals on Shut This Down reminds me of the meeseeks from Rick and Morty. 😂

As a Prince stand. This album was a semi disappointment when it came out. My parents bought it for me. Track 1 sounded like a cheesy Disney movie dance scene but the music instrumentation is nice so you give a pass, but you’d never play it on your own. Prince made a song for Happy Feet called “Song of the heart” which is actually a great example of a cheesy yet FUN song! That song makes me happy til this day! Track 2 is painful 😣 it’s a terrible song & the first time I thought a Prince track was annoying. Felt so bad! But I cannot lie. It sounded like Prince trying to sound younger. Track 3 i actually like, it’s not mind blowing but I play it a lot In the background of my BR games. The lyrics are actually incredible for a radio pop song. Track 4 is another disappointment, sounds like Prince trying to be 30 or 25. NOPE! Even tho I like curly friez aka DaniLeigh’s rap verse. Princes raps were terrible & he’s a much better rapper than that. Track 5 is a vibe! to me, I really like the unconventional R&B theme. This could be us actually turned a lot of my friends into Prince fans. Track 6 is is another disappointmented, aired on the show “New Girl” first & I hated then 😂 Track 7 is lit 🔥 absolutely a booty shaker 🍑 That song is for pop lockers 😂 Track 8 Is ok, however i can’t help feel it but it feels unfinished, like a demo, however it’s a decent song overall. Track 9 is a vibe, I enjoy that interlude, feels very meditative & then turns to funky dance song 🪩 💃🏻 Track 10 is amazing! Another vibe! Reminds me of Aaliyah’s rock the boat , so sexy & sensual & his older deeper , mature voice is so cool to hear. Track 11 is God tier, he ended the album BEAUTIFULLY. Feels like he’s singing from Heaven. I think this album is a must hear, specifically if you know the legend of Prince but I think it’s good to keep in mind, that we’re listening to someone in deep physical pain. This was a tired Prince, leaving us on this plane. That’s why this album is still so special to me. 💜💜

When I bought this album I was a bit disappointed. Half of the album has a lot to be desired. I Guess it has to do with the production, I think this is one the 3 albums co produced by Joshua welton.

The thing that saddens me the most about this album is that he handed much more production duty to Joshua Welton than he did with AOA. It felt like Prince was trying to play catchup with modern music, when most of his fans just wanted his sound. Ironically many modern artists are simply copying and updating his Minneapolis sound anyway, so it was a strange move. From AOA to these HitnRun albums, it just felt like Prince was almost completely spent musically. Phase two is more Prince like, but still pretty weak for me. Kind of a sad and underwhelming end to Prince's career really.
