You did a GREAT job showing the step by step how to get your dog to catch a frisbee! Thank you so much! Everyone else's videos just show off their dog catching it but not teaching how to teach them. Thanks again!

My Jack Russell/Black Lab mix is 10 months old today and I watched this video for the first time when he was 5 weeks old. Thanks to your suggestions, we started working on disc training early on and I'm AMAZED at his progress! Not only is it fun to watch, but it's an awesome physical/mental exercise for him. He's catching them in the air and doing "come around" and everything. Thank you so much!

Jack Russell Terrier are super intelligent dogs. We were blessed with one for 15+ years till he passed on in November. JRTs are NOT for everyone. It takes a loving and patience person to raise a Jack. We loved our Wishbone more than anything in the world. Our Wishbone JRT was a brilliant dog. Our house feels empty and dull now that he is gone. I am fostering a Jack Russell female right now. I think I'm going to keep her :) Thank you for all your videos. You are a great Jack Russell mom.

This video was very helpful. I have a 12 month old Blue Heeler/Boarder Collie Mix and he just got the hang of Frisbee. Right now I can toss it up in the air and he will catch it. He is amazing at jumping. I think I will start to do rollers and other techniques to get him better used to it and catch it every time. Very helpful video, thanks!! Adorable dog!

I love Jesse!! I was just going to watch a few seconds of this clip but couldn't. Had to sit down and watch the whole thing. Thank you for so many film clips. Your bright spirit shines through. I had a Jack Russell for 18 years. She was the best dog I ever had. Plan to get another. P.S. Looks like you live in AZ. Been there for a long time. Now my dogs and I are cooling it in Oregon. Best wishes to you and Jesse.

I use the competition standard size discs, but they also have a smaller size available called pup discs if you prefer a smaller size. I think it depends on your preference, as I have seen really small Jacks play with the normal size frisbees =o)

Heather, this is such an excellent video, from all aspects! I've been wondering how to help my pup learn this as my other dog just took to it naturally! Even if Koani never actually gets into the frisbee catching like it's "usually" done, you've given me so many games and ideas that it will just be fun for us, and that's the whole point, right? Thanks for such an awesome job. And Jesse is soooooo cute!

@zDreamerkid Puppies shouldn't be jumping to catch a frisbee until their bones are finished growing (a vet check before starting any sport is advisable as well). With a puppy, you can use a soft frisbee or a rubber frisbee so that it doesn't hurt their teeth. Rollers are best, and you can start off teaching a puppy to take a disc (without the jumping).

Thanks! Ill try that. Can a 7 month old GSD puppy catch a frisbee? Like, are her bones ready? I usually bounce her squeaky ball on hard sand and she jumps REALLY high and bites it. She almost caught a seagull before as well.
