Fields are the archetypal Goth Rock sound. Their journey from the first album, Dawnrazor (excellent BTW) to The Nephilim (a significant development) and then onto Elizium (definitely worth a listen) and onto the prog Goth Rock of Psychonaut Lib III, is worth following and listening to. Awesome live too

I don't think I even heard of the band at the time but I'm enjoying listening to this album now.

Thank you! This one needs to be added back to my playlist. I love the poetic imagery combined with his haunting vocals. I'm glad you appreciated that first switch up too.

A brilliant example of exploring a great musical theme and pairing variations with changes in sounds to portray a journey. Just. Great. And better with every listen. Carl Mc Coy's voice is part of the package. You would be on a tourist trip without it not a mystical journey. Just like Alien would be quite different with Danny de Vito as the alien. Cool react, and glad to see people discovering this band. And... did I mention Elizium? I think I did. Maybe, like 10 times? Yeah. I must have. All in due time.

Definitely one of the best intros of all time. The way that the two guitars complement each other is just magical. As well as referring to Chthulu this song also makes references to the flood in the old Testament, and The Watchers who were basically the Nephilim as Carl McCoy‘s mother was a Jehovah’s Witness, so he would’ve been quite familiar with all of the old Bible stories.

If you knew Chtulhu like I knew Chtulhu. You'd ride your sleigh far away from its prison in R'lyeh. And count yourself lucky for the rest of your days. .✌&❤.

Justin, as far I remember you never reacted to GTR, Hackett/Howe, "The Hunter" "Toe the Line" ""Sketches in the Sun" "Hackett to Bits" OMG, you are missing many great music

Not my favourite track by them, but always good to hear Carl and the boys.... next try MOURNING SUN [please].....

With the exception of being slightly out of tune, the guitar intro drew me in. The build up of the music was working, too. Then the vocals came in and ruined the mood for me.

Aw come on, my voice is that bad 🤭

@@JustJP I’ve been meaning to bring it up… Goofy is a blessing except in lead vocals, heck, background vocals would be horrendous. Well, it’s possible it could work, it’d take a genius, Andy Partridge could do it… Shhh…t, I sound too pushy, ne’ermind. Everything’s good, love you all.
