not sure about the military being a place for people to "learn discipline", perhaps it depends on the personality. they break you down until the only thing you can do is follow orders without hesitation. a lot of people come back from the military broken. happened to a couple of my friends, they never really come home once they go

I was dead set to sign up for 9 years under the USMC-NROTC program. the GOV owns you for 4 years until your graduate college and become an officer, THEN you start your 5 under your MOS.
@cameronanderson2160 Жыл бұрын
That’s completely normal. You get your school and degree paid for while you’re in ROTC, you commission and then USMC or whatever branch gets their time and money back on whatever your time commitment is. It’s not like you go to school and get a commission, just for them to let you walk free.
@JordanReedYT Жыл бұрын
@@cameronanderson2160 In my case, because my degree would’ve been under engineering, they would’ve only covered about 40% of my total tuition, and I will still have to do one year as a Marine Corps recruiter . I decided not to go because I would’ve been older than I am now before I was able to start my career in the real world, and even then it would be from the beginning.
@cameronanderson2160 Жыл бұрын
@@JordanReedYT understandable, situations are situational. Sounds like you’re better off with the route you went as far as your civilian career. I just know for the vast majority, they’re not as well thought out as you were lol.

Not exactly. You’re a college student first for four years. During that time you do military training as a class and extra curricular activity. You can still play sports or join a fraternity. THEN they own you for four years.
@JordanReedYT7 ай бұрын
@@captkai That would be a regular ROTC program. NROTC is basically enlisting out of High School (similar to a reserve program), you go through basic training and every other weekend and your entire summers are actually work on a base under your MOS.
