I am a late in life child. My Brother is 20 years older than me so I grew up an only child. I never got in trouble ever. My kids are 5 years apart and my daughter was an angel, never even had the terrible twos, till her brother came along and then I gave him the same attention she use to get and she started to act out. I am a stay at home Mom and I spend 24/7 with both my kids but they still think the other gets more attention. There is no winning i swear.

my oldest brother HATED me when i was born, he had always tried getting away with funny things. i was in a rocking chair and my car seat with the seat tied to the chair so i wouldn't fall. my brother pushed the chair over and i was left dangling. my mom came in right in time, 2nd he would dump things in my crib, ash tray, orange juice, milk etc. he almost got caught and to hide his mess he climbed into my crib and was pretending to be sleeping. my mom caught on quick.

My oldest sibling was beyond spoiled. My second oldest turned out successful and well-liked (just not by the parents). They are both brothers... Actually my second older brother, he wasn't even raised by our parents, they took him to Vietnam his first couple years and I was raised by my grandma in the states.

I'm a second born, and although I didn't really get in trouble with fights and criminal type behaviors, I definitely talked back more and was more defensive with my family. And it's mostly because I could see the obvious difference of how they treated my brother versus me; They were always so understanding, and coddling of him, but with me it was almost the complete opposite, where I was always at fault for EVERYTHING with no real proof. If my brother said he didn't do it, or just didn't say anything, it HAD to be my fault, and I was ALWAYS lying if I said I didn't. They seem to think my brother is just a perfect person who never talks back, but it's only because they don't pester him constantly about stupid stuff he didn't do. And although rare, there were a couple of times where my brother raised his voice because they were pestering him (even though, they did it in their more coddling tone). Also, my role model in a sense, was my older brother; we're only two years apart, and I always was his little follower when we were younger. And because he's pretty reserved, quiet, and shy, I think that's part of reason why I'm the same way, (and more so in a lot of aspects)

I honestly noticed this with my parents. By the time I come around to doing stuff like graduate, driving and anything else they are not as interested anymore since my brother already did it 3 years before. They are not as excited about me doing the same stuff and they just want me to do it better and faster and since I'm not as good as him they are always telling me to do it well. I also remember being told being more troublesome as I was smaller, I believe I'm not anymore now ^^

My mom’s family had traditions with their babies. They would be sure to swaddle them “como un cigaro” (like a cigar) so they would have good posture, use warm milk to massage the nose to shape it so it’d be straight, and use breast milk on areas like the back or the space between the eyebrows to prevent hair from growing there. My mom did all the traditions on my big brother and none of them on me and my little brother. 😭😭 She worked too much by then.

Being a first born, I have to disagree completely. My younger brothers were doted on than me. I could only go to school and back home, couldn't date, couldn't work in highschool, and a few other things while my brothers were able to do all of that. My daughter was a hellion when she hit teenage years while my son (second born) is much more calmer and obedient. He still gives us problems now and then, but he's still easier to deal with.
