I love these walkarounds. This aircraft looks amazing and beautiful inside and out. I do enjoy listening to and watching these pilots as they do their job. That is why I love watching these videos because you get to see so much and learn a lot about these pilots, these planes inside and out, and much more. Awesome takeoff and landing that sounds amazing by these great pilots. That view is amazing and beautiful outside these windows. So many ships below to see as well. This is why I love flying; you get to see so many things below you, and it's just amazing. Long taxi, but at least you get to see other planes along the way. Awesome video; I love it.

Although I'm not keen of a propelled engine aircraft, the Dash 8 Q400 is an exception to the rule! It is the epitome of regional traveling and a steady aircraft!

I can‘t believe they did a pushback without starting Eng 2 prior to that! This is a no-go in the Dash, as the landing gear is not hydraulically pressurized and could collapse if you get a little bump during push, which will overlock the over center mechanism! So either you start engine 2 prior to push or you push with gear pins inserted. Both couldn‘t be seen here...

But it actually worked here….

@@thejoyofflying182 not being stabilized at 1000ft AGL will also work almost every time, but still it is procedure and therefore you have to respect it. There are reasons for certain operating procedures in aviation :-)
@thejoyofflying1823 жыл бұрын
@JulianEDFM3 жыл бұрын

To say it’s a “no go” in the Dash isn’t correct. If that were the case it would be a requirement from the manufacture. Which it isn’t, the only AOM reference to Hydraulics and engine starts is 500 and 1000 psi for park brake pressure. Don’t confuse company specific practice with unsafe or non standard procedure.

Checklist Discipline is poor to bad. The checklist is there to act as the 3rd pilot in the cockpit in order to avoid confirmation bias and misconfigured systems. Rhyming responses are the worst thing you can do in a commercial aircraft, propeller or jet it doesn’t matter, as this compromises the safety of the flight. And it does not have to do with the punctuality of the flight crew being on time at all. 1 minute of checklist reading and checking of the response from both flight crew might save them from future accidents or incidents. Get rid of the macho attitude and act as professionals, every pilot knows how to fly the aircraft. It is considered granted actually that you do know how to fly the aircraft . But being proficient is another case. Checklists exist to enchance safety and NOT to act as a barrier in the shake of flight crews comfort.

@@chris55729 Not sure exactly of what you talking about. Is 120 supposed to mean something specific? If you’re asking about my total hours operationally it’s in 4 digits commercial flying.

Piloten mit Maske ...das ist lebensgefährlich!!!!!!!
@Biennois3 жыл бұрын
Interesting to see how certain airlines require their pilots to wear the mask and others do not. SWISS pilots are not allowed to wear one, as far as I know, so that they can get to their oxygen masks more quickly in the event of a depressurization.
@jamespetersen89542 жыл бұрын
We also cannot wear them in order to be able recognise fumes/smells better

Shame they have to wear masks. Flight safety issue if they need to get onto oxygen quickly. I bet that hasn’t been practiced in the Simulator. My company has banned them in flight for that very reason. Interesting
@chris557293 жыл бұрын
Well if you REALLY think about it, this is a propeller-aircraft that can go max 25000 ft. Especially in very short sectors, they probably don’t even climb above FL150. It is so low risk it’s hardly worth mentioning, but for safety’s sake there should an updated manual reflecting the need to remove the mask to put on the oxygen mask, if there isn’t any, although highly doubt it they haven’t thought about it…
@angelossakellariou28323 жыл бұрын
Doesn’t take more than half second to rip the mask by pulling them forward. Create an extra procedure for that in the sim or put in the coms is just too much…

@@chris55729 Thats a fair point actually. Time of useful consciousness around 3-5 minutes at 25k in a rapid decompression. I suppose what I was merely saying was thats its something extra to do or think about in a time critical situation, plus initial startle factor. I certainly wasn't saying it isn't possible Angelos, but merely asking the question if it's even been thought about by the company.
