Hi Carl. Got my new GSA and fitted the Weiser kit with rear brake light/ tail light. Mark from Weiser gave me a tip to feed the brake light wire up through a drain hole which is behind the the reg plate. Just had to remove a rubber grommet and bore the whole a little bigger to let the plug on the brake light push up through. Really really pleased and I would highly recommend this to all GS/GSA owners and it was easy to fit following your instructions. Thanks again. KR David

Just fitted the V5plus BO with the Denali B6 brake light to my 1300GS. Thanks Carl for the video without which it would have been a much more difficult job. Unfortunately Weiser don’t provide comprehensive instructions. Fitting the brake light I unfastened the number plate mounting plate (it stays attached because of the number plate illumination lights wire), there is a convenient hole in the underside of the tail into which the brake light cable can be fed so it’s behind the number plate mount. From there I fed a piece of household wiring cable from under the seat, taped the brake light cable to it and gently pulled it to the underseat area. I hope this helps someone.

Hi most owners have success with either a long cable tie or a metal coat hanger unwrapped. Start at the bottom at the small hole and feed upwards. If you have an alarm fitted unclip it so you can see the cable or wire coming up. Once it is through tie or tape a small piece of string to it. You can then use the string to guide the cable back down to the auxiliary unit. Hope that helps Best wishes Carl

Awesome video! I don't understand why BMW would go this route? With society constantly being distracted by technology why would they sacrifice visibility?? I ask my dealer about this and he said the led's are plenty bright. Pffffft! That's total bs. A friend was recently rear ended by a car at a red light. She got out of the car smoking a cigarette and in a conversation on a cell phone!! There is no doubt in my mind that if he had extra illumination it would have lessened the likelihood of impact. I have a similar system installed that will strobe when the brakes are applied. I notice cars will slow very quickly. Best money I have ever spent. Great videos. Best!

Great video Carl. The issue I have on my XR with the Weiser Technik Wizard kit is that when you put hazard lights on you lose the rear light function. Fortunately my 1250 has the Evo indicators - much brighter - and a rear light.

Unfortunately, the version shown with the 3rd brake light below the license plate is NOT road legal in the EU. According to ECE-R53, a motorcycle may have two brake lights according to category S1 and optionally one HIGH-mounted brake light according to category S3. The third brake light must be installed ABOVE the other two brake lights AND at least 850mm above the road. For this reason, models such as the R12, nineT, and R18 do not have the middle brake light as standard, but only the two side ones.
@justthewayitis2 ай бұрын
I’m aware of some of the limitation imposed on us motorbike riders in EU, it’s strange law that many of us would like to see changed. In the EU we are also not allowed a 3rd tail or running light which seems counter intuitive to road safety. I think what we need is a large motorcycle group / body to raise this concern in local government to address this concern. Thank you for sharing the clarification on the rules. I wunder how the R1250gs was allowed to have 3 brake lights during its production… Best wishes, Carl

Got to admit I quite like the visual impact of the 3rd light being lit for brake only, analogous to a car's 3rd light. Not really a problem for me as my 1250GS didn't have multifuncion anyway... The main unit is stop/tail, the Denali B6 under the plate is stop and the indicators are just... indicators. I did look at running the B6 as a stop/tail, but even at 10% was too bright for tail. Apparently some have sprayed lens tint on to reduce it and make close to the main run light and with brake at 100% it kind of evens out. I run brake at 80% and that's plenty bright enough with a clear lens. Not sure how all of this got to be such a problem. Progress, BMW...?

Hi Jay, good morning,the simple answer is yes, the rear ones are no problem to swap over, on the front you need to make sure you order a your new GS with the externally mounted indicators which I think is part of the Enduro Pack. However you can easily convert a R1300GS with the indicators in the hand guards over to an external configuration. I have already done this to one GS. Weiser or BMW can supply the parts required for this conversion. Hi Henry, So the Extreme EVO kit physically replaces all the OEM bmw indicators and allows to you have bright white DRL’s running lights on the front which I showed you at the end of the video. It’s a fair amount of work to do but worth the effort. If you look on my channel you can watch my 1250 with the extreme EVO kit installed. The choice between the BR - brake light and a tail light vs the BO brake light only version is down to what you want to have on your GS. If the laws allow it, I would fit the BR kit. If you have a good working skills and a garage or workshop to work in, I would recommend the Extreme EVO kit. Please be aware that Weiser are developing a new premium kit for the GS, is not available yet but will be later this year.

Hi YES…you can it’s an easy swop over, just bear in mind if your new 1300 isn’t fitted with enduro pack your indicators will be in the hand guards, but this can also changed very easily. I’m happy to answer questions or you can also send an email to Weiser who can also supply the additional front panel and blanking plates for you to move the indicators from the hand guards back to the side. The conversation is fairly simple to do. Moving the EVO extreme kit is also fairly straightforward Best wishes Carl

I agree, what a ridiculous idea removing the tail and brake light. In Australia our Australian Design Rules (ADR) required the eye level brake light to be removed on my Can Am Spyder and replaced with a blank piece of plastic to suit the Aussie market. Well I’ve fitted the OEM eye level brake light so in essence I’ve made the machine unroadworthy. How bloody ridiculous 😖

Hi Spanky, sadly we have some ridiculous rules regarding lighting on 2/3 wheeled vehicles, cars manufactures seem to be able to do whatever they want, I followed an electric car the other day and it had 12 separate rear tail lights and was just way to bright.

This comment reminds me of a very old tale: "The fox and the grape" by Aesop. It would be interesting to know why so many haters decided to watch a video about a bike they dislike. If you're fond of your bike, that's perfectly fine, but why despise the new model? I have 5000 miles on my R1300 GS clock, and I think it's a fantastic bike, far superior to its predecessor (that I owned and loved) in almost every way. How long did you ride it? What's your real life experience with it? The Bmw R1300 GS is a completely new bike, so minor issues are inevitable, but they have been all solved as far as I know. I had none on my bike. Ride safe and stay serene!
