As strange as this episode is, I think the message is more to do with how society was so fixated on watching the prime minister perform ( watching chaos unfold), no one noticed the girl was released BEFORE he started with the pig. People don’t care about people’s well being, the would rather see chaos.

I think it's also interesting in the ways that it highlights our culture's fixations about sex. The way I see it, it's a no brainer. If you can save a human being's life by having sex with a pig, then you should do it. The sex lasts, what, an hour for him? And yes, it's extremely unpleasant, but then it's done, and a human being gets to continue living. But if you don't do it, you're essentially saying that you would rather let a person die than go through a single short unpleasant experience. But everyone seems to elevate the act into some kind of unspeakable and unthinkable thing. But, from the person's standpoint, if you approach it logically, basically you're just masturbating, but it happens to be into a pig. You could easily stop yourself from fixating on that fact with the right mindset and preparation, and I can't imagine it would be that bad. Of course, there's still the pig's perspective to consider, since it can't consent and probably doesn't want it. But pigs don't want to get butchered either, but almost everyone's complicit in their mass slaughter for food, so logically how can you be okay with that, but not with this? To me this episode really just exemplifies the double standards and selective empathy that people have, both through the people in the actual episode, as well as through the thoughts that viewers of the episode have about it.

This is the strangest pilot to get people interested in a show. The second episode is a much better start. This should have been the finale of season 1.

Dead Set (2008) is the show that got black mirror made, it is sort of the unofficial pilot episode it can be watched as a film it 2.5 hours long, you should watch that its 28 Days Later meets Big Brother it even has people from Big Brother playing themselves

Wow, It's been a while, I'd forgotten how ..... passionate you guys get. Hahaha. Just remember with this show it's all about holding up a mirror. I think this episode's message was more about the public's reaction than anything else. Look forward to more of these.

I always have so much to say about this episode as a pilot, it’s wild and I’m not even going to get into it. I’ve only been able to watch this episode twice and at least 3 people are getting fired if I’m in charge, his team tried a lot but they dropped the ball a lot, because there’s an over an hour and a half that she was actually safe…no team doing live surveillance monitoring of the area? I just can’t go back to this episode without thinking how crazy it is that it took so long to notice she was found but then again the world would really be so distracted waiting for ‘the show’ 🙃

I think that’s the point. In our society people are so focused on the spectacle that they don’t notice events that really matter

Black Mirror was a British show and it was fucking brilliant until Netflix bought it and started catering towards American audiences….aka dumbed it down

When it was on channel 4, it was such a different show! Then mr Brooker sold to netflix and it's still good, but it's lost the raw gritty feel us brits do so well ✌🏼
@superthrustjon8 ай бұрын
@@drewmaidment2685 i will say, I mistakenly watched the UK shameless in its entirety before realizing people were telling me to watch the US one. I liked it better. One thing i noticed was the actors looked more like real people, physically, flaws and all. American cinema hires too many airbrushed people and it becomes unbelievable.

The Prime Minister technically has nothing to do with the Roal Family. The King is more of a symbol nowadays & doesn't really have much power.

by the way this story was inspired by shockingly similar events that came to light with an actual British politician

in the UK the Prime Minister doesn't have the same power as the President in the US, the Prime Minister can be switched by his party at anytime

I don’t know if Miley used the black community I think she was generally into hip hop, trap, and dubstep music at the time. Artists change and grow. And she still is influenced by black music. PRETTY MUCH ALL MUSIC IS!
