One year on from the destruction of ancient caves at Juukan Gorge, the Aboriginal PKKP community is looking for answers.

On 24 May 2020, mining giant Rio Tinto blasted the culturally significant rock shelters to extract $188 million worth of high-grade iron ore. It destroyed the 46,000-year-old landmark
A Parliamentary inquiry is still investigating how the sacred site was destroyed. It has shone a light on the woefully inadequate heritage laws in Western Australia which effectively granted the mining giant a license for destruction.
The Traditional Owners, the Puutu Kunti Kurrama and Pinikurra (PKKP) people of the Pilbara region want to ensure this never happens again.
The Point is NITV's flagship news and current affairs program, hosted by John Paul Janke and Shahni Wellington.
NITV is Australia's Indigenous television channel, a part of the SBS network.

Someone needs to go to jail over this, the arrogance of Rio tints is appalling. The traditional owners need to be compensated handsomely. Riotinto should also be forced to restore the site no matter the cost .
