Del Piero was the reason for me to start interesting football and watching football games (after Euro 2000). The best "10" of Juventus. My heart was melted when during the last game of 2007/08 Seria A (he and Trezeguet had equal goals and were leaders of the table) DP scores first, then Juve got chance for penalty kick. Sandro was the main pens master, he could do it by himself but the kicker was David! Equal number of goals again! Fortunately Alessandro scores again and become the best scorer! Nowadays I can't imagine this situation in any top club...

Del Piero absolute legend and champion, both inside and outside the pitch!! He has never said a word out of line in interviews for his entire career. His-entire-career! Never. I remember a period, when he was often left on the bench by his manager, Fabio Capello. All the supporters would chant his name at the stadium wanting him to play, but, never the less, most of the times he was kept out. He was already a legend, he was the captain, he had been in serie B with Juventus and now he wasn't even playing?! He never complained. Never. He never said he thought he should have played (when basically everybody else were saying so), he never criticised the manager. Not a single time. He always made the pitch to speak for him. Nowadays not many players, if none, would behave that way, especially knowing that all supporters are by your side. That year Juventus won the scudetto against Inter and Alex contributed by scoring some absolute quality class goals, including one wonderful and crucial freekick against Inter indeed as a substitute. I am not a Juventus supporter but he was my idol when I was a kid. Great class, superb moves, soft and elegant touch... what else?! I will never forget the overwhelming, joyful and kind of primal emotion I felt when he put the ball in the top corner against Germany at the 2006 World Cup during the final minutes. Thank you Alex!
