Depending on the yeast you used, a lot of the malic acid may be digested and it won't very much like apples in the end. I would recommend getting some malic acid, apple juice concentrate, or more apples to add in slices to the cider after it's finished primary

From My experience with a rubber balloon needs to be washed very thoroughly before you use it. otherwise it will make your cider taste very funky because they have a powder inside the balloon to keep it from sticking together when not in use.

The balloon with drop the pH of the solution and kill the yeast prematurely. Trapping the CO2 with reintroduce it into the water as carbonic acid, the water lock allows the CO2 to leave - it also allows the oxygen to dissipate overtime to prevent oxidative degradation

Fermentation will generate several times the volume of CO2 as the original liquid. A typical gallon of 5% beer generates about 20 gallons of CO2. It will vary based on sugar content and attenuation. Get an airlock or get ready to burp that balloon regularly.
@zelbel5043
@zelbel5043 2 жыл бұрын
Alternative method to the balloon: Get a plastic tube that is cleaned out and sterilized, then secure it to the container on one end then have that run down to a glass half full of water, all the air will go in there and any insects attracted by the scent (like wine flies)and you can also see when the fermentation proses is done when there is no bubbles left. Then leave it for like a day just to make sure that there is no bubbles left and to insure that everything is done fermenting.
