I actually cried when this finally took off I was so happy. I checked up on it every day and followed the full unfolding process and when we got the first couple pictures back i was so happy. It's really a miracle that this thing made it and was fully operational. It went through so so so many hard ships and finally its floating out fully unfolded and operational around 1.5 million miles away. It had close to 350 potential single points of failure. 5 layers of extremely thin heat shields the size of a tennis court when unfolded and none of the layers can touch. Absolutely mind blowing...

I can never get tired of seeing space related content, for lack of better terminology. It's forever beautiful and mindblowing. I will also never understand how things just started existing, even with the Big Bang Theory, I'll never understand how the very first thing existed. However, I also want to say that something such as the JWST is one of the few things that I can argue is worth every dollar that's spent on it. The technology is insane, and to be able to research what it does and be able to use it for 10+ years, it's well worth every dollar.

Another great Vid Alex, I love listening to your voice as you expound information usually hard to digest..... It's always a lovely moment when your explanation suddenly rings a bell, and I understand. What a wonderfull time we are living in to learn so much new stuff. I was 9, when my school stopped and we were all silent, listening to the radio, piped into all the classrooms. We were all silent, which was an even more a historical 1st. And now at 64, we are seeing almost the birth of everything. Thank you for always taking us on these wonderful journeys

As I was growing up, I was introduced to star trek. I always assumed the term light years was only in regards to distance 1 light year equaled 1 year of travel. However, your video about how jwst found a dot that is 13.1 billion light years away and how the universe is only .7 light years older then that red dot, my brain exploded that it also equates to time. So not just distance = ? but distance/time = ?. Thank you for teaching an old chook a new understanding.

The prevailing theory is space is expanding faster than the speed of light. Hence some light from the beginning of the universe hasn’t reached us and that time is 13.7B or so years. I’m not convinced 100% that the theory is correct but it is mind bending nonetheless.
@aarongreenfield9038
@aarongreenfield9038 Ай бұрын
@@greghelton4668 It's kind of a complicated thing to comprehend, But nothing is actually moving faster than light, It's just that things are expanding faster than light can keep up with in a given time period. It's like taking a strip of rubber and stretching it out, the 2 far ends of the piece of rubber are going to be moving further away from each other faster then Say the end of the piece of rubber is going to be moving away from the center of the piece of rubber. And if you add up the speed of every point moving away from each other, Relative to its position, it adds up to more speed than it is actually moving.

3:00 It only looks like the universe is 13.8 B years old. If everything is moving away from everything else at the same rate, then that's what's happening 13.8 B light years away. This would make it an optical illusion that there is an edge to the universe. Apparent expansion would be cumulative and relative to your position objects would appear to move faster than light at a great enough distance.

The vast majority of people in my world never use this and have no idea what you are talking about. If you reference Hubble's images this somehow has the exact same resolution? Did they just released the exact same images after repainting them? This telescope is pretty much more disposable than Hubble and is unrepairable as it is getting chewed up by meteorites. How can this compliment Hubble when they retired it?

light does indeed get everywhere instantly, no matter the distance, as light has 0 time, lengths/distances are 0.... from the perspective of a beam of light space and time are warped to the maximum. a beam of light literally gets everywhere instantly. ONLY from our perspective does light speed appear to have a speed limit. if you have no mass there is no space, there is no time. again from a photons perspective it reaches its destination in no time/space, the very same moment it is a photon. one way to think of it is just doppler shift, the faster you travel toward something at relative speeds the brighter it gets, the opposite is true as well it will get darker and darker behind you as you approach the speed of light as other photons begin to be unable to interact with you (even light cannot travel faster than light) the nothingness bubble behind you grows until it takes over almost all of your field of view until the only thing existing to see is the very extreme brightness of the inevitable end. When u hit the speed of light as you accelerate u will see nothing but the end and you are already there.
